BangKok!

... no, i didnt participate in anything of similar lingual modulation there...

SQ66 departed SG at 4pm; arrived BKK at 6-..something ;p

We checked out of immigration (quite a breeze, duh), headed out to be greeted by very warm staff, and a hot towel in the van that chauffered us to the hotel (now now, the differences between SG-family-slave-driver and hotel guest are voluminous! *chuckle*

Upon arrival, geez, jo and I just felt like princesses - OKAY, I felt like a princess; Jo's just probably used to such fine living *LOL*.
We settled into the room, and then the 2 "young nubile ladies" (as Karen, Joanne's older sister, said of us) headed out to Dinner... Not before the RULES were laid out:
Rule 1: dont get kidnapped
Rule 2: dont get sold to prostitution
Rule 3: Please be careful

...or something along these lines

heading out to dinner, umbrellas in hand

So, anyway, it was dinner, and a lil planning of what to do at Central. Our TomYam soups cost S$1.50. And desert and coffee, while planning, cost a grand total of S$6(rounded off) - so sinful, desert costing more than dinner itself! And we couldnt decide what to do coz there were TOO many things... Eventually, it was settled that we'd stick to the cheaper joints, where bargaining was the norm, and these places had to be accessible by the - i must say - efficient train system, or at least a decent distance to walk..

(my digestive system started to feel queasy about then - lasted the whole trip and after!)

niwaes, decided to head over to SuanLum coz the rain had dwindled to a drizzle. So it was to SuanLum in a cab, coz it was still drizzling, + no Train access there. Kinda dampened our shopping mood. I only bought a top for the sake of shopping.

It was too dreary with leaky roofs and soaring humidity - Sticky bodies squeezing past each other.. *yeeash*

Headed back ard midnight or so, to a bubble bath (i havent a tub at home, so excuse my indulgence) - but it didnt have any bubbles... LOUSY SOAPSUDS!

Woke up an hour early the next morning coz of Jo's 'innocent convenience' forgetting the 1 hour time difference! Karen was already awake, but still in bed, and was wondering just how shopping-mad the 2 'little girls' sharing a bed next to her were, to wake up at 630am! But since we were up early, we decided to take a leisurely breakfast at the coffeehouse Biscotti.

Headed out towards Pratunam Market....

and it looked 1) closed, 2) dingy!

To think we left the hotel ard 9ish to WALK

We found out from a friendly, kindly (but a lil weird) old man of abt 60... that the market was still closed! it was 10am, and it was stated on promo material that the mart opened shop at 10... *grumble*

He told us abt it being "LUCKY BUDDHA DAY" and spoke to me in Teochew saying "I'm a teochew!" - like.. big deal.. but i was amused so i replied in teochew too :p
Since it was LUCKY BUDDHA DAY, and that a particular temple only opened on THAT day of the year, if you head to that temple to pray, you'd be Lucky.... too bad the temple was tooo far away.. wouldnt have mind heading in for a bit to look ard, soak in the culture, and maybe do a lil praying for gd luck myself. (I'm a FREE THINKER, but family roots are more "chinese")

So too bad, it was early, everyone was praying coz it was LUCKY BUDDHA DAY - so shops were more likely to open slightly later (since almost the entire population's buddhist) - WE WALKED FROM PRATUNAM TO SIAM SQ, and Still Had Time To SPARE!

the red line denotes the route...

We had to kill time.. and kill the sweltering heat!

OH MY GAWD.. when we started shopping.. that was it.. NONSTOP.
MBK is heaven! - nails, baby shoes, my shoes... walk and walk and walk.... we walked ard Siam Sq as well, but because of the heat, didnt get much from the shops there - if we did walk in, it was for aircon. Jo did get a sassy pair of shoes thou! (jo, pic pic?)

lunch back at A&W saw this

and then we went back to shop again.
on the way back, i saw this really funky pair (but flimsy plastic) spec frames that I TOTALLY LOVED.. but she wouldnt sell it for under S$50! Thats NONSENSE! My titanium one from Japan (with the ahbeng thingy by the side) cost me S$35!

*sigh*

After a very happy day of shopping at MBK, we headed for MASSAGE!
BODY TUNES!
head to Sala Daeng. Its right next to exit 3!
Maz recommended it.. 350baht for 1 hr trad thai massage.
Service was fantastic! The Traditional Thai massage was superb.. we went back for seconds the next day, but tried something else....

After re-aligning our spines and such, we went back to the hotel's Spice Garden! (thats our table right smack in the centre of the pic)for dinner since karen said we ought to eat in the hotel as the food wld be cleaner :p food wld also be paid by her company - charged to room *so paiseh* we had a great meal nonetheless!

The SPREAD: Rice, Green Curry, Assorted Thai Appetizers, Stir Fried Beef, Tom Yam Gung!
Our bags are neatly beside us.. and all our shopping neatly tucked behind us. Deceiving aint it.

had such an enjoyable dinner.. with many quotable quotes... one of which:
we were talking abt something and jo burst out something like "but have to KAI other CHUANG KOU"
The worst thing abt it was that I ACTUALLY UNDERSTOOD HER MEANING. How ah-lian can we get. LOL ("Open other windows of opportunities")

Left for Patpong with karen and her colleague around 10plus... the only thing that I really wanted to do on my agenda for Patpong was to catch THAT SHOW...
and we did walk into one of those bars...

200baht = 1 drink, and a show with girls and various apparatus of the show.. namely pingpong balls, 3m of UV string with plastic flowers, or balls attached, smoking cigs, whistles, A LENGTH OF RAZORS.....
you DO know what I'm talking abt right.
I walked out feeling so unaccomplished. :p

the last day saw us in the Pool . Joanne, i forgot to mention: you on holiday, swim so fast for what? :p aft breakfast, it was Train back at MBK! - had to fix my chipped nail. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! i did a manicure the day before, and onthe same day, it chips :/ i wasnt very amused.

A sch mate of mine asked me to get her a couple of triumph's bras coz it was cheaper there. I had the specific size and colour details... but all thruout my shopping at central/ markets/ MBK/ Siam sq, I couldnt find it in YELLOW. Just as i decided to msg her to tell her abt it, I walked into the last dept store i wld step into in bkk (@MBK) - and there i was told that ALL of thailand didnt carry the model in Yellow.
I immediately texted the news to tabby - but i forgot to add +65. so was waiting for her reply all thru my Massage No.2 back at body tunes. I only realised the SILLY MISTAKE when it was time to get back our lembek bodies back to the hotel to meet karen.
Sorry tab. But if you still want to get the bras, my friend JO is going back to bkk soon!

A quick high-tea thing (missed lunch for the massage)in the lobby... and packed in the shopping. Jo managed to request "Loy Krathong" to the musicians providing live backgrd music to everyone... and finally, we took our last photo
because the flower feature in the entrance hall was SO BEAUTIFUL!

We hit the roads for the airport in the hotel's Merc. I fell aslp even thou the ride was apparently "rough".
"She drives so well! she would cut lane and give NO chance!" - according to Jo, of the lady driver.. who was so pleasent.

Seating was a surprise. we got there early, and so more or less, you'd get seats next to each other right.... which was the case on the flight To bkk. On the way back, jo and I were seated one in front of the other, SMACK IN THE CENTRE OF THE CABIN. - How idiotic of the checkin counter girl. We didnt do anything to her, and she had to give us such seats~! even thou we requested to sit tog - which is a norm! Didnt check the tix when we got it, silly us... but i'd still expect something more of SQ!

anyway, the plane ride was soso.. the show i caught was HILARIOUS!

And upon touch down, I headed for the cabs... - TO ARAB STREET!
yep. I lugged my luggage to Arab street.

and then i got home...
and reflected on the trip
- actually was too lazy to shower.. just wanted to stone

:D
Bangkok - end
