I havent really pondered over the china-japan riots (like i have time to ponder over the ways of the world when i'm so busy with my personal life :p)
Anyway...
Japan's war atrocities are far too graphic to be put to words. A sickening thought. But its been years. Japan has been paying its debts, even till now. We really should take that into consideration.
With regards to the appeal to secure a place in the UN's prestigous band of countries to protect asia (loosely put). The timeframe, I personally feel is not adequate. Not that I can tell you first-hand war encounters, that I've lived through the suffering. But what really happend was THAT ghastly - and it only happened a few generations ago; people of that generation are STILL alive.. memories mo doubt still live.
It is prob why China is adament against that appeal; should UN accept it. And I agree that it definately IS an issue that has to be grappled with thoroughly by the UN. The fact that with the approval of the new textbooks to be used in Japanese schools shrink the facts of war to mere fleeting shadows of the past only reinforces the need for Japan to RETHINK their moves.
Whether or not China has been hiding its own past, should not be // compared to Japan's new textbooks. For one, China's revolutions didnt quite affect the world as did Japan's regretable history (?).
but what is past is past. i hope this resolves. - World Peace!
