I swore while driving...

on my way home from Salsa.

it wasnt once, but at least 3 times! throughout, from cree court to home..

I amazed myself.

The first mutterings were
"ben dan idiot go to the turning lane la!"
which i thought was quite C.U.T.E. It sparked some comment from aloy, whom i was dropping off at his home - "when shes behind the wheel, shez a changed woman".

And so within the short 2 minutes before he alighted, I displayed my prowess with the vulgar language:
" K. ...umm... K.N.N.. *thinks* ..K.N.N.C.C.. ooh, K.N.N.B.C.C.B!!!"
I finally said with conviction!

Janet couldnt stop laughing.

And then I launched into a short story abt my once-upon-a-time Ah-Beng Boyfriend.. in relation to swearing niceties... but thats for another day.

The second instance I remember was after desert at Hougang Point (which was very pleasent - Deborah, Janet and Luwyn for company). I parked "illegally" - but thats not the story.

I was hoping for another exit further down the bend so i could escape doing a tedious reverse. Wasn't in the mood to show off my driving skills *Ban Men Nong Fu*. So I took a chance and went straight and turned at the bend... only to just keep going with no exit... passed the road i wanted to go to and was THINKING "so near yet so far..... KAN NI NA... wherez the damn exit" .

If i'm not wrong, only the vulgar phrase was audible. Gotta check with deb.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING, EVEN IN LOVE. AND WHEN YOU ARE NOT READY TO COMMIT, YOU COULD END UP REGRETTING IT.

Sometimes, timing rather than love decides who we end up being with - Or Without.
sad fact 1: and one can only spend the rest of one's life reflecting.. *stops short and reflects on choice of words......* guessing, rather, on who were the potentials.

But I think even if the love of one's life appears when one is single, one may not be in the right frame of mind to recognise him or her as such.

And then love passes by.
sad fact 3: and we wont even know it? then again, i must also drive home this point- sometimes you just go beserk and think EVERY Single member of the opposite sex is THE ONE. now now, dont go there.. the realm of the Desperate Housewives (no need for me to mention men because sadfact 0 is that they were probably born with the "I am desperate" gland nestled somewhere in their brain - ok, i'm being mean. disregard this, even if i'm going to leave it posted. ;p )

... except that I was not looking for one. A boyfriend was all I could cope with then.

I had a few painful relationships after that... served... as those rude wake up calls... realise the meaninglessness of my hedonistic high life.

A) I dont think I fall in to the multiple failed relationship category. So far, my past *serious* relationships have taught me some important things abt myself among other things.
B) thus, my "rude wake up calls" are more of - dont muck ard with guys. they're not quite so worth it.
C) And I realise I enjoy my very "indulgent" lifestyle.
sad fact 5: I procrastinate 95% of the other "important" things in life.. like school for example.... but I cant say its entirely MEANINGLESS (?) can I. I'd be such a hypocrite if i do anyway.

Perhaps I also felt more urgency to find someone marriageable before my biological clock reached zero hour... One day, I'd wake up sick and alone when my fair weather friends flit away.

coz i slept at 6am, woke up at 11. was in town at 1. did the bikini flyer thing*. moved to ecp at ard 4, walked and walked and gave out the lot of flyers. ended late, rushed to "photo shoot**" .. for my salsa class at YMCA. they need for publicity. then to union sq salsa club, friend was treating some dinner coz he won 3rd in the salsa comp, and had vouchers to use. then danced almost nonstop. and home. and tired.


* Bikini Flyer thing : Now that its over..... I can safely tell. Was enlisted to help Esther with her school project for Finals. Her client, Punggol Marina, has this WakeBoarding Event on the 12/Feb/05. My job was to PARADE IN A BIKINI TOP and "Look Cool" giving out flyers with 5 other people. It was 3 couples, with 3 wakeboards shuffling along the stretch outside Wisma/ Taka, and hanging around the Metro/Taka Junction to catch the crowd. yup yup. and this was a total of 4 hours each on 2 saturdays. How fun. I earn some cash too. Really, it was fun! Albeit THE ORANGE FAT ASS who kept following us around *AHGHGHGH*. I wont start describing how dumb he looks, or what he seemed to be doing.

Cf 's Birthday~!! 20th November,Saturday!

Qiaoling+her bro,Ch and me met at the swimming pool at 2pm.A good swim we had.Ok after that we bought her a present.... we agreed to meet 7.30 pm at clarke quay.

We arrived at the party.Cf played a very good host+ she performed salsa dance .Kowz... i never know salsa dance can be that enchanting + marvellous ~!!!Or perhaps i should say not even any word from Oxford dictonary can discribe that scene from Heaven ..Oh goD~!...(cf hope u read this hor~!! hehe)Why di i have to reject her salsa invitation in the first place...perhaps i can dance like her.(joking~) kekee(cough cough) but i now old le..cannot dance liao ..all is too late~better concentrate on muscle training plan!~YappPpee~ ^_^.Ok then we went to ktv room for a small singing session. Wow cf's SCGS friends are so amazing!. Funny is definately not the correct word to describe them.. but they brought in laughter nayway lah.haha i will not forget it. keke so cute~

Didnt get to meet up with her to check it out, but pure coincidence that my "twin" was gonna do a piercing on the same day without telling each other till the night before when I so happened to mention it. *yikes*

Sis and bro went for SALSA LESSONS with Luther and Adeline. ;)
i went to "kaypo" and ended up learning the lead - Salsa Basics!!!

And i didnt hand up my soci assignment.. havent done. i am so DEAD.


Zouk's crowd was disgusting. i left early. walking to the cabs at 1240 in a super short skirt and a camisole top (that some might think cvame out of the lingerie dept)... uumm.. not so fun - unglam huuuhh..
anyway, aside from the crowd, our grp was split.. too bad.


2 dec: i went to adeline's mum's wake *sigh*
was also informed by mum that Auntie alice and Uncle Chongmeng had extra tix to MamaMia! and they were asking if i could take lynn's place coz lynn was going to church to settle some stuff for her cambodia trip, and thus couldnt make it for the fri-nite show.


3 dec: MAMAMIA! bit of salsa, and a yummy bowl of bedok 85 bakchor kuayteow
ANDREW stood me up! we were supposed to go for cigar and desert wine aft my show! he was playing scrabble when i called.

But all ended alright. i headed over to union for a bit of a salsa fix, and then rushed for the last train to Bishan where Terrence picked me up for supper. Birthday treat he said, coz he couldnt make it to my party (updated the entries with photos!).

Met my sibings and Sherwin for dinner - sherwin is the up-and-coming-future-olympics-gold-medalist for Weightlifting... ok, well, i hae confidence that he'll make it there.. AT THE RATE HE EATs~!~

Jazz at Southbridge was good. Chilling out, met up with quite a few people - big grp.. hmm.. weird how we're oddly connected. Derek and Daniel were there. And then there were friends of derek.. his JC friends... And friends of daniel's - few of the NUS jazz band members.. not that i knew everyone, but I've met/heard of/seen/ them from here and there.

the short story goes as follows: I was vying for the venue with another client. The original person that i was liasing with was A BUM, and ARSE and a loser (whom i think got sacked due to his lackadasical work attitude). He took over a month to get back to me on the issues.. even if i called repeatedly every week.
I only found out that he was not there one fine day when i called to ask abt the proceedings... only to be refered to someone else, Alvin (the greenhorn, who really didnt provide necessary backup for the party, but its ok, as long as it didnt screw up totally - those in the KTV room and those who knew what was going on in the kitchen wld understand better). anyway, mum stepped in and said "I WILL PUT A DOWNPAYMENT" and that did the trick with wishywashy alvin.

Daniel, i'll put you with your trumpet here coz well, it was YOU that agreed to play a song or 2 at first.. but its because you did agree to it, infact.. you were the one that convinced me to even do a lil performance in the first place, when i was rambling that my mother was being too precocious to expect my friends to perform. But it snowballed from there..

Jason and Derek, the HO BROTHERS, J on drums and Derek on bass guitar. You guys were such great sports when i brought up the idea at Harry's. And to derek, thanks for just agreeing on the spot, when that was the 1st day I met you! *incredible*..

Along with Josh, the guitarist.. he was a sport too. (sorry, but i dont think i'll sing at harry's at all.. if i've stage fright at my birthday, It'll be WORSE at harry's) and his friend, the other bassist that jammed with Daniel my didi - on the drums - GOOD MUSIC for pple who didnt meet up.. SWELL JAMMIN' IN ITSELF!

TO LEON!!!!! you were supposed to play, but you didnt. you came early to help, and I was busy already... YOU STILL OwE ME A FULL DAY WORTH OF MEALS NOW!! just... thank you for just being there.. :) and for the lovely earrings that i was wearing the whole night! you sure you designed it? *chuckle*

I scrambled out of bed on saturday thinking i was late!

but i wasn't.

I remembered the unfinished sewing, but i was too busy with other preparations for both the Talent Hunt, and my Party that night that i left the sewing for later...

The few of us were supposed to meet at 1pm, at PS. The "competition" was at 2pm, and we were the 4th in line. Also, the only SALSA group among all the hiphop and cheerleading "contestants".

THEY WERE LATE!
had to rush the make up, and I TOTALLY FORGOT abt the sewing!!!! until the last minute.
I am just SO LUCKY to have my sis, and her 2 friends who came early to watch us..

Oh, SF and friends met early to get me a present too. Got me a necklace that went very well with my black number that i intended to wear for my party. It also went fantastically well with my spag top that i was wearing aft the PS Talent Hunt performance. - I SAY, GOOD CHOICE!

The dancing on stage was apparantly lacking energy, as said by the 3 judges. oh well, I HAVE STAGE FRIGHT!
but we were almost immediately approached by the Chinggay 2005 Program Manager/ Director, i cant remember what she said her title was, and she said that she'd contact us again coz she hopes to put us up on 2 floats for Chinggay!!!!

TWO FLOATS!!! she mentioned 3 couples on each float.. so.. we only have 3 couples.. *how?*bimbo ponders*

Excitement fades as quickly as it arrived. The heat was UNBEARABLE esp aft dancing and melting under the tentage.

A late lunch was next on the agenda. || I HAVE NO MONEY, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT. ||

NO FISH AND CO, NO CAFE CARTEL... unless you want to treat me.

But we ended up at cartel, and I had bread and water (complimentary).. and pinched off those who didnt want to finish their food. Deb's sis, Tabby, and her mum, Auntie Susan came round with Faith, Deb's 4month old niece to support too.. so I met faith for the First time, even thou they stay 5 mins away from me, and I sometimes send deb home when she's not going over to eddie's *bleh*

So we left PS at ard 5pm.. took the train to Clarke Quay and realised that the River Valley bldg wasnt as near as we thought it would be. 2 bus stops away. SF, phyllis and steph were my very helpful and pretty receptionists. They did a fantastic job.. until they got bored sometime half way and went in to "flirt" with the old boys - my friends. TSK TSK TSK!!

To the 3 of you.. Lucky i'm there.. like I said, they're all v "se-lang"!! If i'm not there, you better not "flirt" ok!

So the preparations, were in full swing.. decor was coming up, the "guest book" was prepared by the 3 girls, and a few other pple helped out with the desinging of the cards..



Everything was good.. AND I MANAGED TO SHOWER! YAAAY!!! I didnt know i could shower there.. the bathroom was better than expected! NTU almumi gym. haha

730 came and went... (see abv pic) a few pple dribbled in.. but the crowd started coming in ard 8... and it went full swing..

dinner was served... THe music was playing.. Social salsa was the hot fav.. coz if i played jazz, my salsa kakis were sitting down with twitching legs!!

Phelica arrived with her date.. hehe.. and her date totally bowled me over!! Her date was supposed to be a surprise.. And I SERIOUSLY thought it wld be a GUY.... But it was ALETHEA. And I was overwhelmed that alet actually came back for me, coz she was actually only coming back on the 18 of december, or sometime ard then. And i kinda.. burst into tears.. .. how embarrassing! :S


Lotsa running ard. I was so flustered. but really, thank you for coming. I WILL NEVER HOST AOTHER PARTY ..... not any time soon at least.. but Do give comments on the party ok?

Friday was Fiesta at jitterbugs..
The terribly embarassing Birthday Dance.
As usual, I was sleepy..
Was falling aslp at union sq. Surprisingly, I managed quite a few decent dances!

The day started out .. when i woke up, late. Soongfee was still home. Her last O'level paper was in the afternoon. She had plans to go out after that with phyllis. So i took the long 10min walk out to the bus stop with SF - she, going to sch, I to Hougang point for my 1pm appointment.

I had my nails done n rich dark blood red. My first mani & pedicure - ALMOST 2 HOURS!
Had raves abt it ;D
cost me $40 thou :(

Had a Moccha Latte from Coffee Bean.. Yum, one of my favs.. and *sheepish* hopped on a cab home. if you know the distance from HG point to my home, you'd scream - INDULGENCE! (esp aft the mani, pedi, coffee, AND NONYA KUAY!)

so i came home, and basically was online.. prep for the night commenced ard 6pm..
I'd say my weekend was BLACK. Since i was slated for a birthday dance at fiesta, i decided to spruce up for it :P
one of the Flairy "short" black skirts, and a black halter.

(Can anyone who saw it describe it better? I picture, and my brain is quite dead at the moment)

Dinner was with mum. She wasnt too happy that both her daughters wld be leaving her alone at home that night. SF had post O'level exams plan, and I had my friday night "I AM GOING OUT". Her beloved son is in China, for waterpolo training - yes my lil brother is dashing and cute.. hahaha *i feel like pinching his cheeks!*

Anyway, was rushing for the costume for Sat's Chinggay Talent Hunt. Was at the tailors with the others for an hour over. But at least the costumes were ready... only thing was, we had to sew on the "silver lining" to liven up the red - will look like angpows otherwise.

So was late for fiesta, but got the embarassing bday dance.
headed over to union after..
and then flopped down on my bed, sewing.. actually more bumming abt coz my eyes were so tired, and made alot of mistakes with the sewing. OH WELL... i had to pay for that later...

A Japanese soap manufacturing company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a box of soap that was empty.

No doubt, they worked hard and they worked fast. But a rank-and-file employee that was posed the same problem came out with another solution. He bought a strong industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He switched the fan on, and as each soapbox passed the fan, it simply blew the empty boxes out of the line.

Clearly, the engineers worked hard, but the rank-and-file employee worked smart.

So what's better than merely working hard? It's working smart. Having a said that, it is still important to work hard. If you could combine both working hard and working smart, you would possess a major factor toward success.

I still want to take up languages, but without the $$. Self-learning isnt much of an option. I am not presented with opportunities to practice even if I AM able to learn up to half-a-grade of the whatever-language with my oh-so-fantastic-stamina for self study.

See, i wanna learn german, french, spanish, thai, malay/indo, and of course GOOOOOD chinese, just to name a few.

You cant consider the current standards in SG Good, can you?

what has the language disintergrated to?

You may argue that half of the examples there are not exactly Mandarin, BUT THEY STEM FROM THE SAME HISTORY, SAME LANGUAGE, SAME RULES.. So, yes, notice I used "chinese" and not "mandarin" :P

Even if i'm know, deep down, that I would be totally depressed with my progress (esp aft the 10yrs+++ of futile drilling by my school and often-very-useless-sans-a-couple-of-tuition teachers) I still would like to achieve a standard that would allow me to travel there and at least be able to say "i want to eat this, how much is it" in flowery chinese. I've never celebrated my birthday as its always been so low key, it doesnt feel birthday-ish. Admittedly, i was looking forward to throwing a lil party (like its your 21st *weak smile*), but since i dont feel any sincereity from dear-mother in wanting to have anything to do with this -- infact she talks as if its gonna be me thieving all her precious money from her to throw a party -- when family teachings advocate family happness and support..
