by, GEORGE CARLIN

I received this in the mail.

The key to his writing was close to my heart. It was my uncle's 2nd death anniversary; and daddy's would be 5years......

------------------------------

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways ,but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't send this to at least 8 people....Who cares?

drops, salty.. as they fall like the leaves, in autumn.

If I came across to you, dear friend,
as apathetic; or imperturbable; or maybe unimpassioned; a tad phlegmatic maybe?; or any little bit in between?

I sincerely apologise for it.

However,
Under such circumstance
If I were to consider you such a dear friend
It would be my own dishonour to thyself,
for looking upon you with poorly eyes.

For a dear friend of mine, would know better...

Home on a beautiful Friday night. What a pity, don't you think?

Just caught up with one of those DVDs I borrowed from my many honest and reliable sources..

Pride and Prejudice. (starring Kiera Knightly)
I've apparently watched other versions, though none more than this one, I realise. - For the first time, I sat down, and gave the screen my full attention, interspersed with sips of hot green tea.
For the first time, I cried watching the show.

Quotes from the show:

Elizabeth Bennet: Now if every man in the room does not end the evening in love with you then I am no judge of beauty.
Jane Bennet: [giggles] Or men.
Elizabeth Bennet: [laughs brightly] No, they are far too easy to judge.
Jane Bennet: They're not all bad.
Elizabeth Bennet: Humorless poppycocks, in my limited experience.
Jane Bennet: One of these days, Lizzie, someone will catch your eye and then you'll have to watch your tongue.

Elizabeth Bennet: I could more easily forgive his vanity had he not wounded mine.

Elizabeth Bennet: Are you too proud, Mr. Darcy? And would you consider pride a fault or a virtue?
Mr. Darcy: That I couldn't say.
Elizabeth Bennet: Because we're doing our best to find a fault in you.
Mr. Darcy: Maybe it's that I find it hard to forgive the follies and vices of others, or their offenses against me. My good opinion, once lost, is lost forever.
Elizabeth Bennet: Oh, dear, I cannot tease you about that. What a shame, for I dearly love to laugh.

Mr. Bennet: Poor Jane. Still, a girl likes to be crossed in love now and then. It gives her something to think of... and a sort of distinction amongst her companions.

Mary Bennet: The glories of nature. What are men compared to rocks and mountains?
Elizabeth Bennet: Believe me. Men are either eaten up with arrogance or stupidity. If they are amiable, they are so easily led they have no minds of their own whatsoever.
Mrs. Gardiner: Take care, my love. That savors strongly of bitterness.

Elizabeth Bennet
: I've been so blind.

Mr. Darcy
: You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.

Now, if only my life would be as easily read, as this beautifully written tale.

I know I haven't been blogging... Might as well add a lil bit about The Dance Floor..

In short, 4 of us, Eddie-Evelyn-Booncheong-myself, took a chance and tried out for The Dance floor. It is with some regret and disappointment that I have to tell you (if you don't already know), after the announcement of the 8 groups in the wildcard category, we're - Viva - officially out of the competition.

I must say, I absolutely abhor the media production schedules! The true motto is no different from what someone else exclaimed about the *gasp* ARMY - "Rush to Wait & Wait to Rush".
One has absolutely no control over one's own time!
Thoroughly glad I'm outta there!
Sweet.

On the bitter note, of course, we've lost out on the race to $50K. But thats ok. You join something like that for a reason.. My reason was for the media experience, and I can say i've had more than I can handle for a while *grumble*; and of course, a common goal... Hey, $50Grand is a decent sum, ain't it?

Many thanks to my lovely friends, and my fabulous family :D:D who've whether outwardly or quietly, or secretly(?) supported my group. It certainly was an entertaining experience :D

Back to me borin'ole'life.

My take..

on Women & Valentines Day:

Women are really a simple bunch.

After all we're set to make babies, and juggle the home & work careers. Period. ;

its because of this mundane fact, that we just that we show more outright appreciation :) for the nice "frills & flowers" of life.

Don't assume we're hard to please (or it'll be the pot calling the kettle black?)

Current MSN Nick: so, it boils down to this - why?

The male Psyche?

You think like a man...
... you are like a man in a woman's body.

You give off a "ManEater" vibe... you will tame and domesticate him.

*faint

So how many times have I heard such things...
ALOT, seemingly.

WHY? ..Please someone explain to me!
  • I'm very much homophobic;
  • I definitely prefer men (confirm stamp chop guarantee!);
  • I definitely hope to settle down and have my own kids... someday (but thats another issue all together - Where is that man?)
  • Surely you can tell, Chinfee is biologically a woman
  • And I like all the stuff that girls like - fairy tales, lovey dovey happy ever afters (I am a Sucker for Romance) ,cosmetics, and being anal about how my nailpolish looks, yoga, dancing, fit and muscular looking blokes, intelligence, Dressing up, men that can take charge.. or yummy healthy looking male bods with delicious apparatus... ooohhh, laa laaaaa (Ooops, my specs seem to be a lil misted.... ok, too much detail for you... but you get the picture)
*Click here for Nude cutie pic story; & here for story on Butler boy pic

So what makes me so "man"?

Think about it this way - Man was made for woman, and Woman, for man. They are supposed to fit, nicely! No matter how one wants to put it (for eg Why men don't listen, and women can't read maps), eventually, Opposites still attract.

Thusly, If I did have a male psyche, am I supposed to be attracted to effeminate males?

like the handsome (?) Orlando Bloom.. So strong and powerful, quiet and manly..

-With long flowing blond hair-

Can't say for sure, if this pic is of a MAN, or of a manly blond bombshell, can ya?

Or Johnny Depp! As Captain Jack Sparrow!
um, or the weirder Willy Wonka..
Or, God Forbid... this.. disaster..

Guess who?
He can probably put on eyeshadow better than I can!

- see, if I ever went to church, and this was the case, I'd be praying... very feverently
OH GOD, PLEASE! NO!!!

Then again, at the rate I'm goin' .. with no REAL MAN in sight...
Maybe... I ought to think about it...

Edited in (23May06):

Thought I'd just put up a note as to why I posted this Precious Moment/ Poem picture.

There was a time I knew this poem by heart.
And I chanced upon it on an old friend's "friendster profile" the day I posted it up.

This friend was one of those sparks that ignited a flame;
That flame was the cause of burning sensations; heart aches, and heart breaks.
however you want to put it
So we arrive at the term "old flame".

I am/was surprised to find it on this old friend's profile.
I wonder if he's alright.

I am not love-sick.
I am sick of faking love.

No wonder you're just a quack.

Current MSN Nick: .. Don't be an ass. It doesnt get you anywhere near the front.

It lasts all of 2 mins

Fussy Lady. I KNOW.

I know what I want, mostly.
... in life, love, family, friends..
(comic relief: disregard anything to do with work)

But I wont tell you.

It will only spoil the fun.

Thats why I'm chin-chye & bo-chup.

If I wear my heart on my sleeve, you must be AN IDIOT not to know.

Yet I'm said to be ever so *cold* hearted.
Ice Maiden needs to open her heart.
If you're *lucky enough* to know me better.
You'll know that its true - which bit? I leave it to you.

Anyway, I'm not too keen on keeping a harem of men if I do open the doors.
(Mind you, I didnt say LEGS. Stop Dreaming.)

Just because I let pass one boo-boo doesnt mean I'll let pass another.
It'll just accumulate into something else.
*peace sign*

If there's any problem, I'm oblivious to it. (I hope)
*shrug
If there isn't, you're my best friend.

I dont mind meeting you, whether or not you want to meet me is another story.
Then again, whether or not I like you, now thats the deciding factor.
...I enjoy good conversation...
Alright, so long as it amuses me..

If you like me, you show it!
(I admit. chin-chye, bo-chup, and also a bit blur)
If I dont like you, you'll know it.

Simple, sweet, with a touch of fun.
Nothing too salacious, you dumbdumb!
Anything cliche, and you LAGI DUMB!

\(^-^)/ i'm an innocent ger \(^-^)/

Sensitive, Ok.
Sweet, OK.
Pig... There is only room for one.
All women say "SNAG", but they really are attracted to bad boys.
WHY?

I answer you.
Because if you're too snag, you're a WUSS.
We've got enough sensitivity and emotions to deal with.
..... PMS not enough for you?!

I end with a song...
You're my Honeybunch, Sugarplum
Pumpy-umpy-umpkin, You're my Sweetie Pie
You're my Cuppycake, Gumdrop
Snoogums-Boogums, You're the Apple of my Eye
And I love you so and I want you to know
That I'll always be right here
And I love to sing sweet songs to you
Because you are so dear

90% of the time I'm on my computer, I'm usually focused on ... some work.

I hardly ever do anything recreational now.

Apologies.

This came to me on 23January, at 0348hours.

As a woman, never bring up your son to be too well liked by the ladies. - loosely put: a Ladies' Man.

You will not be able to decide which is better:
* No happy family grandchildren
* Or just too many, some he may not even know of!

May this serve to be a reminder, a trinket of advice, to myself at least.

Fishing

I read a post on fishing - trawling, and angling
and he mentioned that "[he is] an angler."

Maybe he was really talking abt fishing.....
Maybe he wasnt ;)

But I couldnt help but relate some bits to how males fish for females.
I quote because I agree.. and because i share the same ideas, some of my comments I add within the blockquote in [bold].

"i realized that most of them are trawlers. tats to say when they go fishing in the sea, they're not really particular about wat they catch... they just cast a net behind them, and then pick out all the squids or tiny fishes which they don't want."

How disgustingly dispicable...
"each one almost seems interchangable, and tat it doesn't matter."

If i were a salmon, I'd rather not bite the bait if i knew I wld just be an equal to a luohan. then again, a fish wouldnt want to be caught and scaled and devoured... :/

Its the pertinent question: why men and women think differently. why some men can place themselves in women's perspectives; and vice versa?
"...fish with a single line ... fishes swimming in the clear blue water. some prettier than others [i'm not so sure in my case]. some bigger than others [they ought to be]. but there'll always be only one tat i wanna hook up. [now thats not my case, so far] and tats why i use a line, and not a net. but then, its an issue when it doesn't bite, or when it bites but the line breaks. its frustrating. u really wonder if u should just cast a net instead."

I definitely am one who'd prefer the SINGLE LINE. - not that i wld like being single all my life.. nonononoonoooooo.
then again, my personal line has been failing me. maybe I shd change the bait?
and then the wise man says:
"姜太公钓鱼,愿者上钩。。。its interesting, this old chinese saying. he uses a silver needle with no bait. and only the fish tat would voluntarily be caught, would bite the needle."

or a "fish" dumb enough to bite on a NEEDLE that wld *poke*poke* and cause pain to it.

"sometimes, u just can't wait forever..."

"which is also true. i'd [hope] never wait forever. but some things, i always believed, are worth waiting for.

but how do u know which things just need time, and which are just simply impossible? tats always my dilemma. its even more true then, tat in this case, waiting is not an option, and tat a limit should be set. what determines this limit...[?] "

For the world just plays big games of chess...

I havent really pondered over the china-japan riots (like i have time to ponder over the ways of the world when i'm so busy with my personal life :p)

Anyway...

Japan's war atrocities are far too graphic to be put to words. A sickening thought. But its been years. Japan has been paying its debts, even till now. We really should take that into consideration.

With regards to the appeal to secure a place in the UN's prestigous band of countries to protect asia (loosely put). The timeframe, I personally feel is not adequate. Not that I can tell you first-hand war encounters, that I've lived through the suffering. But what really happend was THAT ghastly - and it only happened a few generations ago; people of that generation are STILL alive.. memories mo doubt still live.

It is prob why China is adament against that appeal; should UN accept it. And I agree that it definately IS an issue that has to be grappled with thoroughly by the UN. The fact that with the approval of the new textbooks to be used in Japanese schools shrink the facts of war to mere fleeting shadows of the past only reinforces the need for Japan to RETHINK their moves.

Whether or not China has been hiding its own past, should not be // compared to Japan's new textbooks. For one, China's revolutions didnt quite affect the world as did Japan's regretable history (?).

but what is past is past. i hope this resolves. - World Peace!

When Mr Right comes at the wrong time

Lets list down the The Sad Facts.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING, EVEN IN LOVE. AND WHEN YOU ARE NOT READY TO COMMIT, YOU COULD END UP REGRETTING IT.

----> the question, i ask myself, is "Am I Willing to Risk it.."

Am I willing to regret it, and stay uncommitted?

so far, it seems... I am. :D

Sometimes, timing rather than love decides who we end up being with - Or Without.
sad fact 1: and one can only spend the rest of one's life reflecting.. *stops short and reflects on choice of words......* guessing, rather, on who were the potentials.

But I think even if the love of one's life appears when one is single, one may not be in the right frame of mind to recognise him or her as such.
sad fact 2: I agree.. as the article reinforces further (sadfact 4).

And then love passes by.
sad fact 3: and we wont even know it? then again, i must also drive home this point- sometimes you just go beserk and think EVERY Single member of the opposite sex is THE ONE. now now, dont go there.. the realm of the Desperate Housewives (no need for me to mention men because sadfact 0 is that they were probably born with the "I am desperate" gland nestled somewhere in their brain - ok, i'm being mean. disregard this, even if i'm going to leave it posted. ;p )

... except that I was not looking for one. A boyfriend was all I could cope with then.
sad fact 4: erm... *scratch head* i dont know, seems vaguely familiar to me.... *pretends to think really hard*

I had a few painful relationships after that... served... as those rude wake up calls... realise the meaninglessness of my hedonistic high life.
eh.........
A) I dont think I fall in to the multiple failed relationship category. So far, my past *serious* relationships have taught me some important things abt myself among other things.
B) thus, my "rude wake up calls" are more of - dont muck ard with guys. they're not quite so worth it.
C) And I realise I enjoy my very "indulgent" lifestyle.
sad fact 5: I procrastinate 95% of the other "important" things in life.. like school for example.... but I cant say its entirely MEANINGLESS (?) can I. I'd be such a hypocrite if i do anyway.

Perhaps I also felt more urgency to find someone marriageable before my biological clock reached zero hour... One day, I'd wake up sick and alone when my fair weather friends flit away.
*needn't say anythin' - speaks for itself*
and more like... when I wake up, I'd be more beautiful, but its only because I committed suicide at age 25 because I wanted to be young and eligible FOR ETERNITY...... so I woke up in limbo land and faked my gutted (yeah, I gutted myself, as you gut a fish in prep for cooking - how COOOOL is THAT?!) self that everyone loved/loves me.

oh, but i think i have really good friends... :D

... should not ... settling for second best merely for the sake of getting hitched - only to regret it soon after...
sad fact 6: I agree.. so forver, therez always going to be someone better... DIE LA, Like that HOW? no need to settle... ;P

Hopefully, the best is not over but yet to be.

"boyfriend or good guy friends"

I was posed that question, and I answered: "good guy friends"

That was last night.

I'm still wondering... If i really meant that answer? or have I brainwashed myself that leading a Singles Life is more fun - for now at least.

well, along the lines of the game. some new questions. My answers are the 1st words in bold.

- keyboards/ guitar :: If you were in a band, what instrument would you most likely play? - guitar, standup bass, drums, keyboards, singer?

What's Your Cinderella Story?

Some Quiz....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
cf, in your Cinderella story, you'd get to Live Happily Ever After
------------ [[ *YAY* \(^-^)/ ]] ------------
When it comes to setting goals, you're not afraid to reach high. How else would you explain wanting to be the belle of the ball, winning the heart of the prince, showing those evil stepsisters who's boss, and ruling the kingdom? You're a girl with goals, and you go after them.
Let's face it: You're not one to sit around and wait for life to happen. If the driver has the night off, you'd probably proudly take the reigns of your pumpkin coach and drive yourself to the party. You're not the type to have a team of servants at your beck and call although that wouldn't be so horrible, now would it? But if good ol' Prince Charming has anything to say about it, you won't have to lift a finger when you move into the castle together — unless you want to. And with your varied interests and natural drive to get what you want, you're sure to be true royalty in no time. And that's a happily ever after worth sharing.
lingering topic - Boyfriends & Dance
I have been questioned many times over
- " since you're so into salsa, would you like a bf who can dance? "
- " would your bf be from the salsa scene? "
- " would you mind him dancing with other girls? Especially some couple dances.. "
- " what are other factors that would influence your decision to engage in a r/s? "
- " who would you want to meet? "
a) yes - I would like that, but doesnt matter if he doesnt. A dance is made more meaningful by the relationship shared, and it stands the same in the instance of Friends. If he doesnt, at least understand my "passion" for dance; and.. this sounds *roll eyes* silly, but if he dances, he only starts dancing coz of me..
b) probably not - those that start dancing on their own.. are.. hhmm.. let me put it in a way I told a friend when he asked: these guys carry a certain stigma, that they're there to learn just to pick up girls.
c) tough. - "Always treat others the way you want to be treated", thusly, respect their decisions, right? WRONG, i.e. if I were to be really stingy. BUT, I also want to dance, and I DEFINATELY know my limits.. so I just hope my (future) partner shares the same sentiments....
d) i'm fussy. too bad. *grumble*
[smarts] [bigger taller frame] [richer - to ensure my entrance to young taitai-hood] [handsome - my scoreboard is tough to pass. how often do you see me drooling?] [kindly] [honest] [considerate] [filial] [hardworking - to make up for my lack of it, haha] [healthy & fit - which most wld be, with NS or reservist. dont think I'd hook up with someone past reservist, now would I?] [share same morals and values, ideals and thoughts].. DUH, the usual.
~~~ Then you look back and examine my previous "choices"..
(for those who know history, I only beg to say - no one is that perfect.. ;p the guys are all wrong.. *LOL*.. okok, truth be, I probably suck at this)

e) friendster answer - And people ask me abt the relationship bits: Not so much serendipity, but since I'm a bit of a dreamy fairytale person.. romantic idealist... you can more or less make your guess. Doesnt mean I make a nice princess thou.. *evil laugh*

I cant really remember any other questions now at 3.30am.. and anything else you want clarified? - add to comments ;p
