drops, salty.. as they fall like the leaves, in autumn.

If I came across to you, dear friend,
as apathetic; or imperturbable; or maybe unimpassioned; a tad phlegmatic maybe?; or any little bit in between?

I sincerely apologise for it.

However,
Under such circumstance
If I were to consider you such a dear friend
It would be my own dishonour to thyself,
for looking upon you with poorly eyes.

For a dear friend of mine, would know better...

Home on a beautiful Friday night. What a pity, don't you think?

Just caught up with one of those DVDs I borrowed from my many honest and reliable sources..

Pride and Prejudice. (starring Kiera Knightly)
I've apparently watched other versions, though none more than this one, I realise. - For the first time, I sat down, and gave the screen my full attention, interspersed with sips of hot green tea.
For the first time, I cried watching the show.

Quotes from the show:

Elizabeth Bennet: Now if every man in the room does not end the evening in love with you then I am no judge of beauty.
Jane Bennet: [giggles] Or men.
Elizabeth Bennet: [laughs brightly] No, they are far too easy to judge.
Jane Bennet: They're not all bad.
Elizabeth Bennet: Humorless poppycocks, in my limited experience.
Jane Bennet: One of these days, Lizzie, someone will catch your eye and then you'll have to watch your tongue.

Elizabeth Bennet: I could more easily forgive his vanity had he not wounded mine.

Elizabeth Bennet: Are you too proud, Mr. Darcy? And would you consider pride a fault or a virtue?
Mr. Darcy: That I couldn't say.
Elizabeth Bennet: Because we're doing our best to find a fault in you.
Mr. Darcy: Maybe it's that I find it hard to forgive the follies and vices of others, or their offenses against me. My good opinion, once lost, is lost forever.
Elizabeth Bennet: Oh, dear, I cannot tease you about that. What a shame, for I dearly love to laugh.

Mr. Bennet: Poor Jane. Still, a girl likes to be crossed in love now and then. It gives her something to think of... and a sort of distinction amongst her companions.

Mary Bennet: The glories of nature. What are men compared to rocks and mountains?
Elizabeth Bennet: Believe me. Men are either eaten up with arrogance or stupidity. If they are amiable, they are so easily led they have no minds of their own whatsoever.
Mrs. Gardiner: Take care, my love. That savors strongly of bitterness.

Elizabeth Bennet
: I've been so blind.

Mr. Darcy
: You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.

Now, if only my life would be as easily read, as this beautifully written tale.

I know I haven't been blogging... Might as well add a lil bit about The Dance Floor..

In short, 4 of us, Eddie-Evelyn-Booncheong-myself, took a chance and tried out for The Dance floor. It is with some regret and disappointment that I have to tell you (if you don't already know), after the announcement of the 8 groups in the wildcard category, we're - Viva - officially out of the competition.

I must say, I absolutely abhor the media production schedules! The true motto is no different from what someone else exclaimed about the *gasp* ARMY - "Rush to Wait & Wait to Rush".
One has absolutely no control over one's own time!
Thoroughly glad I'm outta there!
Sweet.

On the bitter note, of course, we've lost out on the race to $50K. But thats ok. You join something like that for a reason.. My reason was for the media experience, and I can say i've had more than I can handle for a while *grumble*; and of course, a common goal... Hey, $50Grand is a decent sum, ain't it?

Many thanks to my lovely friends, and my fabulous family :D:D who've whether outwardly or quietly, or secretly(?) supported my group. It certainly was an entertaining experience :D

Back to me borin'ole'life.

Cafe Del Mar

It was Lush 99.5's 2nd anniversary party that had Jazzanova performing, Free flow of Chivas (for VIPs.. like us?), FHM girls tottering around to get votes for themselves for.. .. only they know what..

*in a melodramatic way*
There are no words I can use here, to tell you about the night. But here are some pics we took. Obviously they don't tell the night's full juicy details.. *twiddle thumbs*

We had a good night :)

right girls? ;)

so this is what we did... :)

I never thought it possible to club hop ard singapore without paying alot.
But by the end of last night, okaaay, this morning... if you put my arms under black-light, it would *GLOW*
1. The Clinic
2. Gotham
3. One Night Stand
4. Attica
5. Butterfactory
6. Double O
7. MOS
It was a whimsical night of dancing nonsense, esp if you compare it to my normal salsa. Dancing was mainly confined to (in accending order of excessive and aggressive moves, hampered by my good'ole knee injury), club 2, 6 & 7.
"Gotham had some pretty exciting lineup.. where they had male strippers *yummy*"
They're code named "ODDESSY". Pity we didn't get to go back at 2am for their last set.
Double O had free drinks all the way and of course we drank quite abit... well more for chin..
Chin didn't drink alot either..... it could've been alot more if not for hordes of girls squeezing infront of the bar counter. Urgh.

& I (oddly) LUV it when they ask for I.D. I'm so young! *lalala* Then again, what is it that the younger pple have, that I don't... Some of'em didn't get checked *quizzical look*

Both of us agree, that it was a good night. (we gettin alot of "good nights" these few days, huh! *wriggle butt*)

What I need/ want/ crave.. is... some lovin'... by soothing hands...
I need a MASSAGE! Damnit!

something to smile about

this may not mean much coming from someone who can't dance, but you are a good dancer and even if it isn't from this show, i'm sure your talent will be spotted
a friend said this as his closing line to me, on msn, before he logged off. The ends of my lips curled upward a little.

Then I realised just how much I appreciate a certain handful of friends. When I'm in any down situation, I know exactly who would listen to my whining and bitching, and who knows exactly when to be gentle on me. (You would know who you are.. esp if I whine and bitch to you alot.. *chuckle)

These are the friends, I know not what I can do for them in return! (which can frustrate me, so I try not to think abt it too much.) Sometimes it may seem I take them for granted, but its not because I've forgotten.. its because I don't know just what is equal to all the love and support and friendship they have individually provided me out of the goodness of their hearts.

With as much love as I can possibly give (for now),
chin

Current MSN Nick: so.. was it me? or you? Jaded - frustrated, annoyed, irritated, stressed, pissed, blah.. I wanna cry, oso no energy to cry it out

Fussy Lady. I KNOW.

I know what I want, mostly.
... in life, love, family, friends..
(comic relief: disregard anything to do with work)

But I wont tell you.

It will only spoil the fun.

Thats why I'm chin-chye & bo-chup.

If I wear my heart on my sleeve, you must be AN IDIOT not to know.

Yet I'm said to be ever so *cold* hearted.
Ice Maiden needs to open her heart.
If you're *lucky enough* to know me better.
You'll know that its true - which bit? I leave it to you.

Anyway, I'm not too keen on keeping a harem of men if I do open the doors.
(Mind you, I didnt say LEGS. Stop Dreaming.)

Just because I let pass one boo-boo doesnt mean I'll let pass another.
It'll just accumulate into something else.
*peace sign*

If there's any problem, I'm oblivious to it. (I hope)
*shrug
If there isn't, you're my best friend.

I dont mind meeting you, whether or not you want to meet me is another story.
Then again, whether or not I like you, now thats the deciding factor.
...I enjoy good conversation...
Alright, so long as it amuses me..

If you like me, you show it!
(I admit. chin-chye, bo-chup, and also a bit blur)
If I dont like you, you'll know it.

Simple, sweet, with a touch of fun.
Nothing too salacious, you dumbdumb!
Anything cliche, and you LAGI DUMB!

\(^-^)/ i'm an innocent ger \(^-^)/

Sensitive, Ok.
Sweet, OK.
Pig... There is only room for one.
All women say "SNAG", but they really are attracted to bad boys.
WHY?

I answer you.
Because if you're too snag, you're a WUSS.
We've got enough sensitivity and emotions to deal with.
..... PMS not enough for you?!

I end with a song...
You're my Honeybunch, Sugarplum
Pumpy-umpy-umpkin, You're my Sweetie Pie
You're my Cuppycake, Gumdrop
Snoogums-Boogums, You're the Apple of my Eye
And I love you so and I want you to know
That I'll always be right here
And I love to sing sweet songs to you
Because you are so dear

I'm turning Ah Lian

So I got my hair cut on Thursday.

Before Thursday, I couldnt wait to chop off some locks.
Today..
I'm turning Ah Lian.

So what defines Ah lians?

From TalkingCock.com's
The Coxford Singlish Dictionary
couldnt think of any better place to get the definitions

AH LIAN
A pet-name which literally means, "lotus flower". The female equivalent of an Ah Beng - an unsophisticated Chinese girl. Stereotypically dresses in neon colours, wears a huge ribbon perched on the top of her head, and carries a tiny basket.
See also: Ah Beng Ah Huay Chao Ah Beng/Ah Lian OR....

See this pic

Took abt half an hour to get this pic. I was trying for the Classic AhLian Frontal Doe-Eyed look (or something to THIS effect - hey, free publicity! couldnt think of anyone who embodied lian-ism @ its best.. its just the looks), but my sis (the phtographer) and I couldnt stop laughing. So we compromised on a side view (which still took a few shots :/ )

Did I succeed?

That was taken on sunday (yesterday) at Serene Center Macs.
Just for the purpose of showing the New Hairstyle

an awful candid photo, probably taken in when in motion. I was adjusting my tube (YES I'm NOT in the nude), heard my sis's phone "click".. And i turned my head in shock. So here we are, Doing The Chicken!

So ah, the second half of sunday, I trying to act ah lian.
I try lidat, lyk bery harD.
i din TrY @ de SSO concert in de Botanic Gardens cos I shy. (fake didnt think it was that fun yet)

Den wen 2 Adeline hse 4 din din.
SF & I by fruits 4 din din.
Eat v ShiOk!
GoT BBQ kebab (by deborah), ade made spag and mojito and bought Lew-Lian Ster-ru-Dal (durian strudel), pizza bought by luwyn and janet, salad by nick, kerms and carl got sushi, and chicken wings bought by daniel.. eat v de shiok!

So ah, we eat liao, then go upstairs masak masak ("play" in malay, usually in the context of children playing). Play what, I oso dunno. Just play.. with ourselves? (now now.. we ahlians are very innocent)
ARBO PLAY OWNSELF LA! - Adeline is big girl already, she got no doll for us to play. de boys had PS2 coz carl brought.
So Fun. *twist sign*

After that, i brought my ahlian demeanor to Jazz@Southbridge WOR.
that was most fun.
Dunno how to describe. TOO MANY JOKES.
Dunno why pple laugh. I farnee? or Dey TiNK I Farnee? Or I say Farnne Ting?
you seh leh?

Ahlian now has to worry abt why she isnt stardeeing 4 next week exam. Die liao wor.
Sure Fail!
Den can go becum Singapore Girl!

*tata* - ahlian trying to act ang-mor-pai

------
Just remembered this coz mentioned it to deb over msn:

i'm turning Ah Lian says:
i went blading last night right (past midnight)
then up till safra cc ... there was this merc doing a turn out .. and i was on blades going further than safra...
so when i passed the merc (that was in the mid of doing a 3 point turn) - i heard the fella in the car (probably saying to me) say "wanna ride"
.. LOL
i was blading in 3quarts and a teeshirt mind you
nite time, must be more appropriately dressed... (over day time, Bikini to absorb UV rays)

young punk kind la.. like us, drive mummy daddy's car

but when i heard that out of the merc.. i immediately thought abt "oie, xiao jie, yao sing-gar-pour passipot mai?"

coz a friend was telling us how his SUPER AHBENG friends pick up girls. and he experienced it first hand at changi village not too long ago.

Another variation would be:
"xiao jie, ai chomp chomp mai" - "chomp chomp" meaning "wanna fuck"/ "gimme a blowjob"... .. *exasperated look* I DunnO! but it was sure as hell funny.
(i have no clue why "chomp chomp" coz it reminded me of serangoon garden's hawker centre. maybe i got the spelling wrong :p or am i just hungry all the time)

21

I am ... 21.

I am ... 21.

Its just a number.

Sunday, 21-Nov-2004, was no different from any other Sunday of 2004.
The only difference was, I am now of legal age to.. errmm... you know...

I woke up late, as usual, for a late lunch, and went for salsa training. and was home for dinner. and did nothing much else... but this.. oh, and i watched a couple of short clips of myself on the "social dance floor" FOR THE FIRST TIME! sheesh.. aft a year half and plus plus of dancing, this is the first time i've watched myself social..

anyway...

-----

My dear friends...
If you've any photos from my birthday party, can I, unabashedly, ask you to forward them to me? I dont own a camera of my own :S

For those who didnt come, I dont think you missed much :P

For those who called or msged from overseas... I MISS YOU!! Thanks for remembering, and COME HOME and MEET UP!!

For those who came, Thank you for taking time off. I hope you enjoyed yourselves; I hope it was something "different".

For those who helped, I couldnt thank you more.. You've all been wonderful.

but Do give comments on the party ok?

I'd like to know if you enjoyed yourselves; if it was something differnt; what was the most interesting?; ANYTHING! I wanna make a scrap book out of this! :D

for those who walked in when there was no one at the reception table, and you havent seen the scraps of paper with funny hand drawn designs on them... Thats my "guest book". Could i implore you to just pen a few lines for my personal keepsake?

also, Photos and videos are not ready.. since i dont own a cam of my own. I'd have to ask all those who have photos to send them to me for compilation and I'll put it online :D

I'm so sorry I couldnt spend time with you individually, but thats the Opportunity Cost - Bash vs Inimacy. Something I had to decide on. I chose bash, since i've never hosted a party before, much lest organize one! I hope i did a decent job :/

Current MSN Nick: Thank you for everything!! I'm so sorry if i didnt have tme to catch up with you, but i appreciate that you came..

Thank yous....

Thank you all for everything.

to mum for booking the place.

the short story goes as follows: I was vying for the venue with another client. The original person that i was liasing with was A BUM, and ARSE and a loser (whom i think got sacked due to his lackadasical work attitude). He took over a month to get back to me on the issues.. even if i called repeatedly every week.
I only found out that he was not there one fine day when i called to ask abt the proceedings... only to be refered to someone else, Alvin (the greenhorn, who really didnt provide necessary backup for the party, but its ok, as long as it didnt screw up totally - those in the KTV room and those who knew what was going on in the kitchen wld understand better). anyway, mum stepped in and said "I WILL PUT A DOWNPAYMENT" and that did the trick with wishywashy alvin.

To my uncle, Mum's eldest brother for paying for the delish LANA CAKE - ie very rich chocolate cake.

To my pretty receptionists
who were FANTASTIC help before and during the party. my sister, Soong fee, and her friends, Phy and Steff. They met up way early in the day to get me a present, a very pretty necklace. And also supporting us at PS for the Chinggay 2005 Talent Hunt. Steph was my other secretary, after my sister... my sis did alot..l. i dont even know everything she did... what did you do sf? Phy provided artistic talent by providing the 759655 PENS that you saw, and also the drawings on the slips of paper to spruce up the "guest book".

The Dancers!!! VIVA SALSA mi amigos!!

the performance was fantastic, RAVES! i tell you!
Such a pity adeline wasnt with us, nor in the mood to celebrate with me. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND. I am just sorry I cannot be of much help, but do tell me when I CAN!

The social dancing was performance in itself too.. :D got alot of pple interested in it.
and thank you for agreeing to bring the music and doing the lil' line dance..
LUTH YOU WERE SO PRO.. *lol*

The MUSICIANS..

Daniel, i'll put you with your trumpet here coz well, it was YOU that agreed to play a song or 2 at first.. but its because you did agree to it, infact.. you were the one that convinced me to even do a lil performance in the first place, when i was rambling that my mother was being too precocious to expect my friends to perform. But it snowballed from there..

Jason and Derek, the HO BROTHERS, J on drums and Derek on bass guitar. You guys were such great sports when i brought up the idea at Harry's. And to derek, thanks for just agreeing on the spot, when that was the 1st day I met you! *incredible*..

Along with Josh, the guitarist.. he was a sport too. (sorry, but i dont think i'll sing at harry's at all.. if i've stage fright at my birthday, It'll be WORSE at harry's) and his friend, the other bassist that jammed with Daniel my didi - on the drums - GOOD MUSIC for pple who didnt meet up.. SWELL JAMMIN' IN ITSELF!

TO LEON!!!!! you were supposed to play, but you didnt. you came early to help, and I was busy already... YOU STILL OwE ME A FULL DAY WORTH OF MEALS NOW!! just... thank you for just being there.. :) and for the lovely earrings that i was wearing the whole night! you sure you designed it? *chuckle*

And Drew.. the DUET.. *oops* it didnt come out as well as practice :/ *sigh* my fault, I forgot lyrics :( hey, but the audience didnt notice!

-----

my dear guests i'm so sorry i had to "categorize" you. It was commented that it seemed like a pre wedding party :S SHEESH! no, i'm too young, and i'm still very much single.
Your presence, the life, the love, the energy, the gifts.. thank you all so much.

I was so flustered. but really, thank you for coming. I WILL NEVER HOST AOTHER PARTY ..... not any time soon at least..

but Do give comments on the party ok?

I'd like to know if you enjoyed yourselves; if it was something differnt; what was the most interesting?; ANYTHING! I wanna make a scrap book out of this! :D

So, Do comment! THANKS!!

Its My P.A.R.T.Y

I scrambled out of bed on saturday thinking i was late!

but i wasn't.

I remembered the unfinished sewing, but i was too busy with other preparations for both the Talent Hunt, and my Party that night that i left the sewing for later...

-----

The few of us were supposed to meet at 1pm, at PS. The "competition" was at 2pm, and we were the 4th in line. Also, the only SALSA group among all the hiphop and cheerleading "contestants".

THEY WERE LATE!
had to rush the make up, and I TOTALLY FORGOT abt the sewing!!!! until the last minute.
I am just SO LUCKY to have my sis, and her 2 friends who came early to watch us..
Phyllis and stephanie, THANK YOU!! helping us rush about!

Oh, SF and friends met early to get me a present too. Got me a necklace that went very well with my black number that i intended to wear for my party. It also went fantastically well with my spag top that i was wearing aft the PS Talent Hunt performance. - I SAY, GOOD CHOICE!

------

The dancing on stage was apparantly lacking energy, as said by the 3 judges. oh well, I HAVE STAGE FRIGHT!
but we were almost immediately approached by the Chinggay 2005 Program Manager/ Director, i cant remember what she said her title was, and she said that she'd contact us again coz she hopes to put us up on 2 floats for Chinggay!!!!

TWO FLOATS!!! she mentioned 3 couples on each float.. so.. we only have 3 couples.. *how?*bimbo ponders*

-----

Excitement fades as quickly as it arrived. The heat was UNBEARABLE esp aft dancing and melting under the tentage.

A late lunch was next on the agenda. || I HAVE NO MONEY, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT. ||

NO FISH AND CO, NO CAFE CARTEL... unless you want to treat me.

But we ended up at cartel, and I had bread and water (complimentary).. and pinched off those who didnt want to finish their food. Deb's sis, Tabby, and her mum, Auntie Susan came round with Faith, Deb's 4month old niece to support too.. so I met faith for the First time, even thou they stay 5 mins away from me, and I sometimes send deb home when she's not going over to eddie's *bleh*

-----

So we left PS at ard 5pm.. took the train to Clarke Quay and realised that the River Valley bldg wasnt as near as we thought it would be. 2 bus stops away. SF, phyllis and steph were my very helpful and pretty receptionists. They did a fantastic job.. until they got bored sometime half way and went in to "flirt" with the old boys - my friends. TSK TSK TSK!!

To the 3 of you.. Lucky i'm there.. like I said, they're all v "se-lang"!! If i'm not there, you better not "flirt" ok!

-----

So the preparations, were in full swing.. decor was coming up, the "guest book" was prepared by the 3 girls, and a few other pple helped out with the desinging of the cards..

Everything was good.. AND I MANAGED TO SHOWER! YAAAY!!! I didnt know i could shower there.. the bathroom was better than expected! NTU almumi gym. haha

------

730 came and went... (see abv pic) a few pple dribbled in.. but the crowd started coming in ard 8... and it went full swing..

dinner was served... THe music was playing.. Social salsa was the hot fav.. coz if i played jazz, my salsa kakis were sitting down with twitching legs!!

Phelica arrived with her date.. hehe.. and her date totally bowled me over!! Her date was supposed to be a surprise.. And I SERIOUSLY thought it wld be a GUY.... But it was ALETHEA. And I was overwhelmed that alet actually came back for me, coz she was actually only coming back on the 18 of december, or sometime ard then. And i kinda.. burst into tears.. .. how embarrassing! :S

Lotsa running ard. I was so flustered. but really, thank you for coming. I WILL NEVER HOST AOTHER PARTY ..... not any time soon at least.. but Do give comments on the party ok?

We were dancing alot, and had some performances..

Salsa performance by my very close salsa friends... and the Band

who came together not knowing each other, but met one week before to brew something for me!

For all the presents, and the love and laughter that came along with it.

I've so many people to thank .. They made my birthday SO MEMORABLE, personally. It went thru a few weeks of planning and meetin up.. and I CANNOT bring myself to just give send you an SMS.. but I will state here that I will update you when all the stuff is up.. i'm just really SLOW.. yeah yeah, "chinfee the sloth" :P

I could never express the stirring feelings I had when I saw so many people who'd take time off just to celebrate with me.
Thank you all so much.
but the one i hafta thank, coz she got the place - is mum

-----

Most of the party left before midnight.. *phew*
was quite burned out from the whole days activities.. but i managed to do a couple of dances, and KTV int he room.. we finally packed up to leave at 2ish..

and my other surprise came. Brian P. whom i thought was still in Australia, came down to river valley to meet me.. just for that few minutes..
and we were all packed up and carrying stuff to the cars.

Hey BP, sorry you couldnt make it.. but am touched that you still came down even thou I said we were all gonna leave ...

-----

had bak kut teh just down the road, before Mhd Sultan with some of my relatives from the maternal side of the family. I didnt eat much during my party.. sighz, we had extra food, but it was all cold anyway.

By the time i got home, i was .. STONED.

skimmed thru the presents.. even now, i havent looked at each individually :S
will make time for it!!

-----

and that was that.

Singapore is Just SO Small

Nat's birthday was held at Fuenti
- a very good restaurant. Excellent for dates. Small. Italian.... and I know one of the Managers...

yeahh.. I was JEALOUS! Yes, Nat. Your party was just the loveliest! Its good to know the right people eh? *wink* I can only DREAM of having such a party. Like I was telling the other bestest girlfriends - only NAT will have PlaceCards, so neatly handwritten, our names. You can tell, everything is so genuine and sincere. Your family, mum and dad and everyone... surprising you with all the international calls and flying south to have dinner just for 1 night.... Our parties will be so haphazard and sloshy in comparison! *kudos to your night nat*, Please send me the photos!!!!

Fuenti, that cozy restaurant with YUMMY ITALIAN.. Uh huh... We're all connected in a web of friends.
- Nat's Dad knows the owner of Fuenti, who has MAGIC fingers. He was the cook for her party! *YUMYUMYUMYUMYUM* He insisted...
- I know one of the managers, Albert, through Lynn Chong's Mother, Auntie Alice, very close family friends - "chin fee is a "friend-by-default", our parents been friends like since FOREVER. " - see full friendster testimonial by cheekysalsera).
- Lynn is working there, at Fuenti, part-time, and was called on duty for tonight because they needed extra hands..
- Auntie Lilian, whom I met through Auntie Alice at indochine wisma... apparently knows my father, and all the people that worked with him before at Allied Walkers/Domac. She Sings REALLY WOW. Has a few albums to her name...... She was at Fuenti.
- Uncle Richard, who was also working with my dad before... Asked after my family and mother, also at Fuenti
- Nat's good friend from St. Theresa's, Davina, is Auntie Ivy's daughter. Auntie Ivy wasn't at Fuenti, but obviously is known by Auntie Lilian and Uncle Richard..

and I have no idea who else....
Its Singapore that is So small, and My Father's Charm (or so it seems) spread so far. A year on, I meet unexpected people along the way, that know, and speak so nicely of you... Looks like you've charmed so many people..

Its almost a year... :( 13July marks a very upsetting day.

Dearest Daddy, the words still stand true:
Blessed with the priceless gift of charm....
May you joke your way up to heaven.
