by, GEORGE CARLIN

I received this in the mail.

The key to his writing was close to my heart. It was my uncle's 2nd death anniversary; and daddy's would be 5years......

------------------------------

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways ,but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't send this to at least 8 people....Who cares?

George Carlin

the $50,000 News..

So now we know.. the winners of The Dance Floor.. blah blah 1st reality dance show blah blah

Vas and Pris.
Hey, good work!
$25,000 EACH. can you imagine how many dance lessons i could go for... *dreams*

As much as they did a good job dancing to the $$, my personal votes go to Soul/ Platinum.
Street dancing is alot more versatile than.. O_o.. Hey, I would love to take ballroom classes, ok. Esp the Latin Category.
IMHO, IF the voters - i'm quite sure only a handful put in $, myself not inclusive - were not too in awe of ballroom - like we all don't know, its a small community with some Extra Cash - and also not too caught up in the whirlwind of romance about these 2 young'uns - its their private affair, right? - maybe, just maybe they'd have seen it a lil clearer, the talents of those who make up Soul Fusion and Platinum.

I'm not saying the winners don't deserve the win.. I kind of expected the top 5 to be the top 5. I'm just saying, we're easily swayed. Ha, its TV after all.

On an end note, Benji's performance, no doubt it was a performance, but it seemed a lil unrehearsed.. ya think? Ah well, he still pulled it off with alotta style ;) YAAAOOOWWWZER!

The male Psyche?

You think like a man...
... you are like a man in a woman's body.

You give off a "ManEater" vibe... you will tame and domesticate him.

*faint

So how many times have I heard such things...
ALOT, seemingly.

WHY? ..Please someone explain to me!
  • I'm very much homophobic;
  • I definitely prefer men (confirm stamp chop guarantee!);
  • I definitely hope to settle down and have my own kids... someday (but thats another issue all together - Where is that man?)
  • Surely you can tell, Chinfee is biologically a woman
  • And I like all the stuff that girls like - fairy tales, lovey dovey happy ever afters (I am a Sucker for Romance) ,cosmetics, and being anal about how my nailpolish looks, yoga, dancing, fit and muscular looking blokes, intelligence, Dressing up, men that can take charge.. or yummy healthy looking male bods with delicious apparatus... ooohhh, laa laaaaa (Ooops, my specs seem to be a lil misted.... ok, too much detail for you... but you get the picture)
*Click here for Nude cutie pic story; & here for story on Butler boy pic

So what makes me so "man"?

Think about it this way - Man was made for woman, and Woman, for man. They are supposed to fit, nicely! No matter how one wants to put it (for eg Why men don't listen, and women can't read maps), eventually, Opposites still attract.

Thusly, If I did have a male psyche, am I supposed to be attracted to effeminate males?

like the handsome (?) Orlando Bloom.. So strong and powerful, quiet and manly..

-With long flowing blond hair-

Can't say for sure, if this pic is of a MAN, or of a manly blond bombshell, can ya?

Or Johnny Depp! As Captain Jack Sparrow!
um, or the weirder Willy Wonka..
Or, God Forbid... this.. disaster..

Guess who?
He can probably put on eyeshadow better than I can!

- see, if I ever went to church, and this was the case, I'd be praying... very feverently
OH GOD, PLEASE! NO!!!

Then again, at the rate I'm goin' .. with no REAL MAN in sight...
Maybe... I ought to think about it...

陶喆 - 爱很简单

Love, is Simple

This song has enraptured many hearts..
For the sake of it, I'm just putting down the lyrics (yes... I googled it... As IF I can get the chinese characters right... Stop singgering already.)

I LOVE YOU 无法不爱著你 BABY 说你也爱我
I LOVE YOU 永远不愿意 BABY 失去你

I LOVE YOU(yes I do) 永远都不放弃 这爱你的权利

如果你还有一些困惑 Oh No
请贴著我的心倾听
听我说著 爱你 (yes I do)
Not much of a mandarin (everything) fan, I would still consider this one of my all time favourite songs.. The emotions run high, it engulfs you, sometimes. (ok, me only then.)

This is an MTV based on a Korean Drama - Goong (i think- just quoting off the youtube intro).
There's a clear line of thought - the guy likes the girl *duh*.. But what intrigued me was, from the way the MV went through the storyline of the show.. how the girl was resistant.
...I wonder why

Well... This being a korean show, I would expect it to be typically because the girl has some GOOD reason as to why she's resistant to the guy... He must've been some bastard.
*innocent look*
Love is patient, love is kind [and] is not jealous;
love does not brag [and] is not arrogant
1 Corinthians 13:4

whatever the case, I still enjoy the complexities of such oddities.
Love.. isn't so simple, anymore.

Fishing

I read a post on fishing - trawling, and angling
and he mentioned that "[he is] an angler."

Maybe he was really talking abt fishing.....
Maybe he wasnt ;)

But I couldnt help but relate some bits to how males fish for females.
I quote because I agree.. and because i share the same ideas, some of my comments I add within the blockquote in [bold].

"i realized that most of them are trawlers. tats to say when they go fishing in the sea, they're not really particular about wat they catch... they just cast a net behind them, and then pick out all the squids or tiny fishes which they don't want."

How disgustingly dispicable...
"each one almost seems interchangable, and tat it doesn't matter."

If i were a salmon, I'd rather not bite the bait if i knew I wld just be an equal to a luohan. then again, a fish wouldnt want to be caught and scaled and devoured... :/

Its the pertinent question: why men and women think differently. why some men can place themselves in women's perspectives; and vice versa?
"...fish with a single line ... fishes swimming in the clear blue water. some prettier than others [i'm not so sure in my case]. some bigger than others [they ought to be]. but there'll always be only one tat i wanna hook up. [now thats not my case, so far] and tats why i use a line, and not a net. but then, its an issue when it doesn't bite, or when it bites but the line breaks. its frustrating. u really wonder if u should just cast a net instead."

I definitely am one who'd prefer the SINGLE LINE. - not that i wld like being single all my life.. nonononoonoooooo.
then again, my personal line has been failing me. maybe I shd change the bait?
and then the wise man says:
"姜太公钓鱼,愿者上钩。。。its interesting, this old chinese saying. he uses a silver needle with no bait. and only the fish tat would voluntarily be caught, would bite the needle."

or a "fish" dumb enough to bite on a NEEDLE that wld *poke*poke* and cause pain to it.

"sometimes, u just can't wait forever..."

"which is also true. i'd [hope] never wait forever. but some things, i always believed, are worth waiting for.

but how do u know which things just need time, and which are just simply impossible? tats always my dilemma. its even more true then, tat in this case, waiting is not an option, and tat a limit should be set. what determines this limit...[?] "

For the world just plays big games of chess...

I havent really pondered over the china-japan riots (like i have time to ponder over the ways of the world when i'm so busy with my personal life :p)

Anyway...

Japan's war atrocities are far too graphic to be put to words. A sickening thought. But its been years. Japan has been paying its debts, even till now. We really should take that into consideration.

With regards to the appeal to secure a place in the UN's prestigous band of countries to protect asia (loosely put). The timeframe, I personally feel is not adequate. Not that I can tell you first-hand war encounters, that I've lived through the suffering. But what really happend was THAT ghastly - and it only happened a few generations ago; people of that generation are STILL alive.. memories mo doubt still live.

It is prob why China is adament against that appeal; should UN accept it. And I agree that it definately IS an issue that has to be grappled with thoroughly by the UN. The fact that with the approval of the new textbooks to be used in Japanese schools shrink the facts of war to mere fleeting shadows of the past only reinforces the need for Japan to RETHINK their moves.

Whether or not China has been hiding its own past, should not be // compared to Japan's new textbooks. For one, China's revolutions didnt quite affect the world as did Japan's regretable history (?).

but what is past is past. i hope this resolves. - World Peace!

*urgh, social issues.

"Soul"

just got back from arab. we were there since just abt 7pm till midnight past.

time flew by. didnt realise.

dinner and somehow got caught up in discussions. social issues, family, religion, gripes abt attitudes, love, relationships... blah philosophy blah...

my only concern is: philosophy is great.. sets you thinking when you dont really need to? when things can be simple. - that aside, if we were discussing more social issues, at least i could argue with ANYONE that i "studied" for my upcoming exams this may.

Soul: that word was mentioned.
Do you believe in past/present/future, life-after-death, rebirth..?
is that what your soul is? does it traverse thru the eras of time and space?
is it a collection of your experiences, that you can expand on feelings, stories, emotions, other people..?

It brought me back to yesterday. I was in school (YES, I WENT FOR REVISION LESSON)
and the canteens were not open so we (eventually) decided to have lunch at Holland V, not too far away from school.

Lunch was decent.

Just after lunch wasnt.

I was dreaming of mocha latte from coffee bean (which wasnt too far from the foodcourt where we had lunch). and we trooped there.

within that short walk. my gaze settles on a Man.
My Mind's Picture: a hobble. a trolly from the supermarket. paraphernalia that small, even desolate looking, in it.. scraps of paper, that made the already spacious trolly look too empty.
He wasnt really shabbily dressed. Pink shirt and pants.
A nasty hobble. slow. agonizing.
his face, a story of a hard life? stricken with the lines of age, sunspots, toothless, a frown that i see? as if he has accepted this...
I felt this sense of guilt.

flashes: does this old man collect scraps of paper for a living in this single supermarket trolly?; what was I doing spending $5 on designer coffee?; but he isnt that shabbily dressed; but his hobble is heart-wrenching, I should go up and help; is he walking along this road, in something that wld probably equate to "Sunday-best" in storybooks like Little Women et al. because he WANTS to?; I want to give up my coffee.... no, i want to be someone he knows he can trust, even if i'm a stranger; what are his circumstances.. he must be numbed from life's cruelties;

...... what if his pride preceeds him and i get turned away -- my gaze follows as we cross paths. something heavy sinks. I find my head turning to watch him go by, as he continues his journey, and I, into the cafe.

I am ashamed now.
Even if I didnt "help", I could have asked. There's always something lovely about one's smile. I recall an incident in the past, still etched so clearly.. I was just about 8 or 9 years old. I had to run an errand for mum while she waited in the car. An old indian man was struggling with a load on a goods-trolley up a slope. I see him. I follow my gut feelings - I run up and help him push it up. He turns, looks surprised, and he smiles. - That warmth. That felt good. Didnt need my mother to tell me she witnessed the whole thing; or for the fact that a puny lil girl cld really help with THAT load (thou back then i did think i was pretty strong...)

But that good is waning...

Yesterday, I chose a different path, knowingly, albeit rather reluctantly. I wasnt sure. I was somewhat afraid. Now, I am sadly conscience-stricken, and I cannot do anything to right it.
- this frustration sucks -

... and then you want to help the whole world.

Photographers bring to attention such situations. On hindsight, shd I have taken a photo of that man? - He would be an excellent photography subject, anyone would agree.
Does that help and do greater good? Because one subscribes to National Geographic and sees a photo of a girl with beautiful eyes that tell her sad-but-true-and-it-is-accepted-only-because-it-is-the-way-of-life-there story, they start donating to an organisation - Is that going to make you feel that good about one's self?

Such photographs alert the world abt these plights. What abt the photographers themselves? To take pictures, with such aspect, you'd place yourself by a "window", looking out into that world, and take that photo. Would you, as that photographer, step out, and do something abt that photo that is at that moment, being captured as filmgrains in the camera of your eye?

"... a little good goes a long way."

If i could turn back time, I'd like to know this man.

My pink shirt old man.

... what is soul? - at least i know, i have a soul that feels... a tad bit destitute at the mo. It needs to be worked on a lil' bit more thou... I know...

Melancholy sinks deeper.

fuzzy wuzzy logic

something weird is going on.

something in the sand? stars? sea?
i mean, stars...

The link is to an astrology website supplied by JY, a fellow scorp, who told me a week ago, that this was the ONLY site he trusts.
"since when?" I asked ; "since last year (thereabouts)" he replies.
So i think "probably not too bad"

I read it - right about a quarter of the page, and i give up.
Distractions.
and I chuck it to the inner recesses of my mind... and also my "Favourites" list, just in case I get into the "stars, please tell me my future" mood.

.. in comes today. 6th march.

* general day events: performance at suntec. lunch at marche. hung ard at Jitterbugs for a while. Walked a bit ard Suntec to kill time before a movie - I wanted to get a pair of slippers, but ended up getting a pair of fantabulous SHOCKING PINK faux leather heels! ~how exciting~
Movie was so enjoyable. I miss watching movies.. :(
HITCH: like a basketball game. fast; dodge here dodge there, ready steady SHOOT SCORE!
heheh
then homeward to a a damn yummy meal.. Kong bak, fried bread, veges, Threadfin Fish in soup gravy, seafood soup - made up for yesterday.

So now i type.

What is it with today? from the stroke of midnight.. I couldnt sleep. Te night was filled with random thoughts - some negligible, most, just nonsense. And I blogged, alot, apparently.

skim thru to note the "theme". no prizes for guessing.

Anyway. I manage to nap a couple of hours before waking up and rushing to suntec for the Celebrate Women - North East CDC (yes, had to add this in for effect).
blah blah blah, thru my day as mentioned earlier.

nows the fuzzy wuzzy logic. think along the themes of the night's entries.....

And then, I walk into Charles and Keith.
i see the slippers i've been eyeing. I ask to try. I wait. It is very crowded.
I hear my name being called - its not anyone that was accompanying me - it was ex-boyfriend, D. O_o :S :p

whatever. not that I have anything against my ex-s. They're a fine bunch, or so I hope (haha, ok, joking).. of all days, I had to be running on 2 hours of nap, and since i was too lazy to change out of my dance costume, I looked odd.

-yay-
so i bump into a past love.

yada yada, my day goes on with a fantastic movie about LOVE and RELATIONSHIPS. ~*wow*~ You wouldnt say~!
I liked it anyhow.
couldnt help but associate some pple with the characters...
will smith, "tall dark and handsome, Hitch - a smooth talker" is cute, still. How hez matured since Fresh prince days.... OOPS, I digress.

So i'm home. I'm online. some funny twisted turn of events. I'm onto my ICQ to suss out an old "poem" i still have on my "about me"... (JY asked abt this word "FIE"). I see some small blinky thing... and its a msg from someone NOT on my list.

"sam"

*me thinks* okay.. whoz this sam msging me. I hardly get those pickup msgs on icq anymore - thanks to privacy options and the like.

"sam" the ex-bf as well.
(for those who are not in the loop - quick history: me, 2 exs. Sam~2ishyears before and into poly; D~sometime in yr3 poly. - and none so far after.)

WHAT IS THIS~ i'm getting freaked. I go back and read the astrology page.
It says so in the summary:
If you suddenly lose your interest in work, food, sleep, or any of your usual activities, then you'll know why. When love bites in March, it will have the power to transform you and your lifestyle.
OH NO, its happening! I've not slept much; aside from dinner when i was famished i didnt each much during the day.. .. and i'm going to sch tmr!

see, what did i tell you?
FUZZY WUZZY LOGIC~

When Mr Right comes at the wrong time

Lets list down the The Sad Facts.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING, EVEN IN LOVE. AND WHEN YOU ARE NOT READY TO COMMIT, YOU COULD END UP REGRETTING IT.

----> the question, i ask myself, is "Am I Willing to Risk it.."

Am I willing to regret it, and stay uncommitted?

so far, it seems... I am. :D

Sometimes, timing rather than love decides who we end up being with - Or Without.
sad fact 1: and one can only spend the rest of one's life reflecting.. *stops short and reflects on choice of words......* guessing, rather, on who were the potentials.

But I think even if the love of one's life appears when one is single, one may not be in the right frame of mind to recognise him or her as such.
sad fact 2: I agree.. as the article reinforces further (sadfact 4).

And then love passes by.
sad fact 3: and we wont even know it? then again, i must also drive home this point- sometimes you just go beserk and think EVERY Single member of the opposite sex is THE ONE. now now, dont go there.. the realm of the Desperate Housewives (no need for me to mention men because sadfact 0 is that they were probably born with the "I am desperate" gland nestled somewhere in their brain - ok, i'm being mean. disregard this, even if i'm going to leave it posted. ;p )

... except that I was not looking for one. A boyfriend was all I could cope with then.
sad fact 4: erm... *scratch head* i dont know, seems vaguely familiar to me.... *pretends to think really hard*

I had a few painful relationships after that... served... as those rude wake up calls... realise the meaninglessness of my hedonistic high life.
eh.........
A) I dont think I fall in to the multiple failed relationship category. So far, my past *serious* relationships have taught me some important things abt myself among other things.
B) thus, my "rude wake up calls" are more of - dont muck ard with guys. they're not quite so worth it.
C) And I realise I enjoy my very "indulgent" lifestyle.
sad fact 5: I procrastinate 95% of the other "important" things in life.. like school for example.... but I cant say its entirely MEANINGLESS (?) can I. I'd be such a hypocrite if i do anyway.

Perhaps I also felt more urgency to find someone marriageable before my biological clock reached zero hour... One day, I'd wake up sick and alone when my fair weather friends flit away.
*needn't say anythin' - speaks for itself*
and more like... when I wake up, I'd be more beautiful, but its only because I committed suicide at age 25 because I wanted to be young and eligible FOR ETERNITY...... so I woke up in limbo land and faked my gutted (yeah, I gutted myself, as you gut a fish in prep for cooking - how COOOOL is THAT?!) self that everyone loved/loves me.

oh, but i think i have really good friends... :D

... should not ... settling for second best merely for the sake of getting hitched - only to regret it soon after...
sad fact 6: I agree.. so forver, therez always going to be someone better... DIE LA, Like that HOW? no need to settle... ;P

Hopefully, the best is not over but yet to be.

flower? flirt?

yesterday, i was prodded to google "bdsm" ...
(long story that one)

Anyway, i found this. - ah but I had no time to read la. you can go enjoy yourselves.. if so..
-------------------pls end here-------------------

for those more interested in my blog (haha)....

Was more amused by the links within the drop down menu at the top of the page....
I read through the list and thought "flirting" was innocent enough.. and clicked in and basically skimmed thru really fast.

The paragraphing on the page, however, enabled me to pick up Ms. Jillson's various tips.. and the longest list was

Ms. Jillson's "Ways to be a Great Flirt":
- Use flattery
- Say "Hello" with energy
- Shake hands (depending on circumstances)
- Make immediate, direct eye contact
- Repeat the person's name
- Ask "no one ever asked me that before!" questions
- Ask for your new friend's life story
- Have something to say by keeping up-to-date
- Play with a piece of clothing (i.e. dangling your shoe, playing with an earring, stirring a drink, adjusting your hair, etc.)
- Whisper
- "Help someone get out of an old routine, and into a new one" (i.e. introduce them to some new activity or form of art or whatever)
- "Leave them wanting more"
- "Create and use nicknames"
- "Drop Names" (i.e. show your connections to other people in your flirting partner's community)
- "Wear, bring, or carry something unusual"
- Limit the amount of time you flirt (to take the pressure off yourself if you haven't yet gotten to the point where flirting is just fun)
- Set a numerical goal (i.e. "I will flirt with four people tonight, for my own good...")

now, WAIT a minuTE! dont i do HALF of the list, naturally? You tell me..

so now, I'm an INFP personality type (short poem on INFP) flirt.. AN INTROVERTED FLIRT. *grin*

As a friend, E, says "whats to bad abt that!" - point taken.

Grandmother's stories..

My uncle sent this to me...

in the email, he said:
All grandmother story have a moral.

All uncle fei's story, you have to seach hard
for the moral, but it's there somewhere.

"Everything's got a moral,
if only you can find it."
---Alice in Wonderland

Alright.

I like this one...

Grandmother story II - The one you feed

Old grandmother
told his grandson
about a fight
A fight is going on
inside me
he said to the boy.
It is a terrible fight
and it is between
two wolves

One is evil
He is anger
envy
sorrow
regret
greed
arrogance
self-pity
guilt
resentment
inferiority
lies
false pride
superiority
and ego.

The other is good
He is joy
peace
love
hope
serenity
humility
kindness
benevolence
empathy
generosity
truth
compassion
and faith

This same fight
is going on inside you
and inside
every other person too

The grandson
thought about it
for a minute
and then asked
his grandmother
which wolf would win

Old grandmother
simply replied
"The one you feed."
