by, GEORGE CARLIN

I received this in the mail.

The key to his writing was close to my heart. It was my uncle's 2nd death anniversary; and daddy's would be 5years......

------------------------------

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways ,but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't send this to at least 8 people....Who cares?

George Carlin

Frustration...

Makes you do foolish things...
Like.. Posting it on the BLOG.

So, I've not posted for the LONGEST TIME....
ARGH.
Hello everyone :D

"Unless I let you know I am... I will not be your HDB-ginseng-shop-errand-sai
-gang-kid-paid-peanuts to do your bidding!

THAT was YOUR "To Do List" - you're still to take responsibility for it. If things are not done here, You. Are. Still. Screwed. "

This just snippets of an email i just sent out.

After which, I came up with this analogy, to whom the email was intended for. This was what I really wanted to share... too bad, I'm frustrated so dirty linen goes up anyway.

hmm, I don't know if it will make sense to you...? Oh hell....

If everyone's work and life encompassed each a standard toilet...

Its like you go to your toilet, then ask everyone to help together flush/ clean your toilet.

We can help - because we're
1.your friends,
2.a small team, so if you fall, we all fall.

But please don't expect us to wipe your ass as well...?
Esp when you're fully abled or maintaining that impression..

We each have our own toilets and asses to maintain too.

Happy Pig New Year!

Its the Pig year!

I'm a Female Pig!

So, i got this in the mail, thanks to Auntie Irene:

Human = eat + sleep + work + enjoy
Pigs = eat + sleep

Hence, Human = Pigs + work + enjoy
if, Human - enjoy = Pigs + work
in other words,

Human that don't know how to enjoy = pigs that work

---------------------

Men = eat + sleep + earn money
Pigs = eat + sleep

Hence, Men = Pigs + earn money
if Men - earn money = Pigs
in other words,
Men that don't earn money = Pigs

---------------------

Women = eat + sleep + spend
Pigs = eat + sleep

Hence, Women = Pigs + spend
if, Women - spend = Pigs
In other words,

Women that don't spend = Pigs

---------------------

Summary:

Men earn money not to let women become pigs!
Women spend not to let men become pigs!

Men + Women = 2 Pigs
Wish All the Pigs Happy Forever.

My take..

on Women & Valentines Day:

Women are really a simple bunch.

After all we're set to make babies, and juggle the home & work careers. Period. ;

its because of this mundane fact, that we just that we show more outright appreciation :) for the nice "frills & flowers" of life.

Don't assume we're hard to please (or it'll be the pot calling the kettle black?)

Current MSN Nick: so, it boils down to this - why?

"Pearls of Wisdom" - Dave Barry

i thought this was interesting, funny, and true...but I will keep my personal comments to myself this time...
Fourteen Things That It Took Me Over 50 Years To Learn
by Dave Barry

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings."

3. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

5. You should not confuse your career with your life.

6. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

7. Never lick a steak knife.

8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.

12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above-average drivers.

13. A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)

14. Your friends love you anyway.

Thought for the day: Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

Fussy Lady. I KNOW.

I know what I want, mostly.

But I wont tell you.

It will only spoil the fun.

Thats why I'm chin-chye & bo-chup.

Then again, whether or not I like you, now thats the deciding factor.

Alright, so long as it amuses me..

And I love to sing sweet songs to you

Murphy's Law... and then some

Murphy's Law ("If anything can go wrong, it will") was born at Edwards Air Force Base in 1949 at North Base.

It was named after Capt. Edward A. Murphy, an engineer working on Air Force Project MX981, (a project) designed to see how much sudden deceleration a person can stand in a crash.

One day, after finding that a transducer was wired wrong, h cursed the technician responsible and said, "If there is any way to do it wrong, he'll find it."

The contractor's project manager kept a list of "laws" and added this one, which he called Murphy's Law.

Actually, what he did was take an old law that had been around for years in a more basic form and give it a name.
'if anything can go wrong it will' was sod's law because it would happen to any poor sod who needed such a catastrophic event the least.

in no order of preference, these are a few that I agree with:

- If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something
- Nature always sides with the hidden flaw
Corollary: The hidden flaw never stays hidden for long.
- Murphy's Law of Thermodynamics: Things get worse under pressure.
- The Murphy Philosophy: Smile . . . tomorrow will be worse.
- Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse
- Nothing is as easy as it looks.
- You will always find something in the last place you look.
If your looking for more than one thing, you'll find the most important one last.
- When in doubt, mumble. When in trouble, delegate.
- Mr. Murphy warning: Don't mess with Mrs. Murphy
- The difference between Stupidity and Genius is that Genius has its limits.
- Power Is Taken... Not Given
- When something goes wrong, you cannot find the solution in the instruction booklet, but someone else always does.
- Murphy's golden rule: whoever has the gold makes the rules.
- Everyone has a scheme for getting rich that will not work.
- All the good ones are taken.
If the person isn't taken, there's a reason.
- Brains x Beauty x Availability = Constant.
This constant is always zero.

- Money can't buy love, but it sure gets you a great bargaining position.

- If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
- On Dating: Availability is a function of time. The minute you get interested is the minute they find someone else.
- Sex is like snow; you never know how many inches you are going to get or how long it is going to last.
- If you get them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.
- When the lights are out, all women are beautiful.
- Sex is hereditary. If your parents never had it, chances are you won't either.

- Love your neighbor, but don't get caught.
- A woman never forgets the men she could have had; a man, the women he couldn't.
- Love comes in spurts.
- A man can be happy with any woman as long as he doesn't love her.
- Although it may seem like that on the outside, no one is having fun being single
- Never trust a woman who acts like you are so sexy she can't help herself but drag you to bed
- A love will tell you they love you endlessly.
A true love will tell everyone else they love you endlessly despite the embarrassment factor

- Love has all the answers. But till then sex brings up some good questions.
- Never make love in your back garden. Love is blind, but not your neighbors.
- When she says: "Don't buy me anything expensive" and you listen, expect to be single.
- As soon as you break up the man (or woman) who couldn't commit TO YOU will get married.
- Procrastination is a lot like masturbation, it feels good until you realize your just fucking yourself

- The more studying you did for the exam, the less sure you are as to which answer they want

ok, i'm sold - "Marry an Engineer" ;P

I got this in an email

Let me tell you why girls should eventually marry an Engineer over a Law, Management, Arts or Medical School Graduate.

He has three distinct advantages over the rest of the graduates.

Advantage 1: Secure lifestyle
An Engineer boyfriend can provide you with a secure lifestyle.

At 27 years old, an Engineer probably has a respectable, stable job that gives him a high income to own a car, invest, have a comfortable life, and get married and buy a house too.

Law graduates are still working as a lowly apprentice in a law firm, most Management graduates have just failed on their first business plan, the Arts graduate is still looking for a job, and the Medical School graduate is still living in a hospital.

Advantage 2: Unmatchable industriousness
An Engineer boyfriend will dedicate an unimaginable amount of his time and effort to understand you.

Engineers strain really really hard to understand their work. You can believe that they will try really really hard to understand women too, just like how they understand their work, once they believe that you are the one. So even if they don't understand you initially, they will keep on trying. Even if they still do not understand, they will figure out the correct method to keep you happy (e.g. buy diamond ring = 1 week's worth of happiness.) And once they find out the secret formula, they will just keep on repeating it so that the desired results appear.

Unlike the Lawyer who will argue with you, the Management graduate who will try to control your spending, the Arts graduate who will 'change major', and the Medical School graduate who will operate on you.

And you know what, it's really so easy to make Engineers believe that you are the 'one'. Say that you like one of their projects and they will be hooked to you forever.

Advantage 3:
An Engineer boyfriend will never betray your trust.

Let me first tell you what is wrong with the rest of the others - the Lawyers will lie about everything, Management graduates will cheat your money, the Arts graduate will flirt, and you probably just look Like another cadaver to the Medical School graduate.

Your Engineer boyfriend is either too busy to have an affair, and even if he does, he is too dumb to lie to you about that.

Hence, an Engineer is the most secure boyfriend that you will ever find - rich enough, will keep on trying to understand and please you, has no time for affairs, and too dumb to lie to you.

So girls, why procrastinate?
Get an Engineer as your boyfriend!

I'm turning Ah Lian

So I got my hair cut on Thursday.

Before Thursday, I couldnt wait to chop off some locks.
Today..
I'm turning Ah Lian.

So what defines Ah lians?

From TalkingCock.com's
The Coxford Singlish Dictionary
couldnt think of any better place to get the definitions

AH LIAN
A pet-name which literally means, "lotus flower". The female equivalent of an Ah Beng - an unsophisticated Chinese girl. Stereotypically dresses in neon colours, wears a huge ribbon perched on the top of her head, and carries a tiny basket.
See also: Ah Beng Ah Huay Chao Ah Beng/Ah Lian OR....

See this pic

Took abt half an hour to get this pic. I was trying for the Classic AhLian Frontal Doe-Eyed look (or something to THIS effect - hey, free publicity! couldnt think of anyone who embodied lian-ism @ its best.. its just the looks), but my sis (the phtographer) and I couldnt stop laughing. So we compromised on a side view (which still took a few shots :/ )

Did I succeed?

That was taken on sunday (yesterday) at Serene Center Macs.
Just for the purpose of showing the New Hairstyle

an awful candid photo, probably taken in when in motion. I was adjusting my tube (YES I'm NOT in the nude), heard my sis's phone "click".. And i turned my head in shock. So here we are, Doing The Chicken!

So ah, the second half of sunday, I trying to act ah lian.
I try lidat, lyk bery harD.
i din TrY @ de SSO concert in de Botanic Gardens cos I shy. (fake didnt think it was that fun yet)

Den wen 2 Adeline hse 4 din din.
SF & I by fruits 4 din din.
Eat v ShiOk!
GoT BBQ kebab (by deborah), ade made spag and mojito and bought Lew-Lian Ster-ru-Dal (durian strudel), pizza bought by luwyn and janet, salad by nick, kerms and carl got sushi, and chicken wings bought by daniel.. eat v de shiok!

So ah, we eat liao, then go upstairs masak masak ("play" in malay, usually in the context of children playing). Play what, I oso dunno. Just play.. with ourselves? (now now.. we ahlians are very innocent)
ARBO PLAY OWNSELF LA! - Adeline is big girl already, she got no doll for us to play. de boys had PS2 coz carl brought.
So Fun. *twist sign*

After that, i brought my ahlian demeanor to Jazz@Southbridge WOR.
that was most fun.
Dunno how to describe. TOO MANY JOKES.
Dunno why pple laugh. I farnee? or Dey TiNK I Farnee? Or I say Farnne Ting?
you seh leh?

Ahlian now has to worry abt why she isnt stardeeing 4 next week exam. Die liao wor.
Sure Fail!
Den can go becum Singapore Girl!

*tata* - ahlian trying to act ang-mor-pai

------
Just remembered this coz mentioned it to deb over msn:

i'm turning Ah Lian says:
i went blading last night right (past midnight)
then up till safra cc ... there was this merc doing a turn out .. and i was on blades going further than safra...
so when i passed the merc (that was in the mid of doing a 3 point turn) - i heard the fella in the car (probably saying to me) say "wanna ride"
.. LOL
i was blading in 3quarts and a teeshirt mind you
nite time, must be more appropriately dressed... (over day time, Bikini to absorb UV rays)

young punk kind la.. like us, drive mummy daddy's car

but when i heard that out of the merc.. i immediately thought abt "oie, xiao jie, yao sing-gar-pour passipot mai?"

coz a friend was telling us how his SUPER AHBENG friends pick up girls. and he experienced it first hand at changi village not too long ago.

Another variation would be:
"xiao jie, ai chomp chomp mai" - "chomp chomp" meaning "wanna fuck"/ "gimme a blowjob"... .. *exasperated look* I DunnO! but it was sure as hell funny.
(i have no clue why "chomp chomp" coz it reminded me of serangoon garden's hawker centre. maybe i got the spelling wrong :p or am i just hungry all the time)

Fishing

I read a post on fishing - trawling, and angling
and he mentioned that "[he is] an angler."

Maybe he was really talking abt fishing.....
Maybe he wasnt ;)

But I couldnt help but relate some bits to how males fish for females.
I quote because I agree.. and because i share the same ideas, some of my comments I add within the blockquote in [bold].

"i realized that most of them are trawlers. tats to say when they go fishing in the sea, they're not really particular about wat they catch... they just cast a net behind them, and then pick out all the squids or tiny fishes which they don't want."

How disgustingly dispicable...
"each one almost seems interchangable, and tat it doesn't matter."

If i were a salmon, I'd rather not bite the bait if i knew I wld just be an equal to a luohan. then again, a fish wouldnt want to be caught and scaled and devoured... :/

Its the pertinent question: why men and women think differently. why some men can place themselves in women's perspectives; and vice versa?
"...fish with a single line ... fishes swimming in the clear blue water. some prettier than others [i'm not so sure in my case]. some bigger than others [they ought to be]. but there'll always be only one tat i wanna hook up. [now thats not my case, so far] and tats why i use a line, and not a net. but then, its an issue when it doesn't bite, or when it bites but the line breaks. its frustrating. u really wonder if u should just cast a net instead."

I definitely am one who'd prefer the SINGLE LINE. - not that i wld like being single all my life.. nonononoonoooooo.
then again, my personal line has been failing me. maybe I shd change the bait?
and then the wise man says:
"姜太公钓鱼,愿者上钩。。。its interesting, this old chinese saying. he uses a silver needle with no bait. and only the fish tat would voluntarily be caught, would bite the needle."

or a "fish" dumb enough to bite on a NEEDLE that wld *poke*poke* and cause pain to it.

"sometimes, u just can't wait forever..."

"which is also true. i'd [hope] never wait forever. but some things, i always believed, are worth waiting for.

but how do u know which things just need time, and which are just simply impossible? tats always my dilemma. its even more true then, tat in this case, waiting is not an option, and tat a limit should be set. what determines this limit...[?] "

When Mr Right comes at the wrong time

Lets list down the The Sad Facts.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING, EVEN IN LOVE. AND WHEN YOU ARE NOT READY TO COMMIT, YOU COULD END UP REGRETTING IT.

----> the question, i ask myself, is "Am I Willing to Risk it.."

Am I willing to regret it, and stay uncommitted?

so far, it seems... I am. :D

Sometimes, timing rather than love decides who we end up being with - Or Without.
sad fact 1: and one can only spend the rest of one's life reflecting.. *stops short and reflects on choice of words......* guessing, rather, on who were the potentials.

But I think even if the love of one's life appears when one is single, one may not be in the right frame of mind to recognise him or her as such.
sad fact 2: I agree.. as the article reinforces further (sadfact 4).

And then love passes by.
sad fact 3: and we wont even know it? then again, i must also drive home this point- sometimes you just go beserk and think EVERY Single member of the opposite sex is THE ONE. now now, dont go there.. the realm of the Desperate Housewives (no need for me to mention men because sadfact 0 is that they were probably born with the "I am desperate" gland nestled somewhere in their brain - ok, i'm being mean. disregard this, even if i'm going to leave it posted. ;p )

... except that I was not looking for one. A boyfriend was all I could cope with then.
sad fact 4: erm... *scratch head* i dont know, seems vaguely familiar to me.... *pretends to think really hard*

I had a few painful relationships after that... served... as those rude wake up calls... realise the meaninglessness of my hedonistic high life.
eh.........
A) I dont think I fall in to the multiple failed relationship category. So far, my past *serious* relationships have taught me some important things abt myself among other things.
B) thus, my "rude wake up calls" are more of - dont muck ard with guys. they're not quite so worth it.
C) And I realise I enjoy my very "indulgent" lifestyle.
sad fact 5: I procrastinate 95% of the other "important" things in life.. like school for example.... but I cant say its entirely MEANINGLESS (?) can I. I'd be such a hypocrite if i do anyway.

Perhaps I also felt more urgency to find someone marriageable before my biological clock reached zero hour... One day, I'd wake up sick and alone when my fair weather friends flit away.
*needn't say anythin' - speaks for itself*
and more like... when I wake up, I'd be more beautiful, but its only because I committed suicide at age 25 because I wanted to be young and eligible FOR ETERNITY...... so I woke up in limbo land and faked my gutted (yeah, I gutted myself, as you gut a fish in prep for cooking - how COOOOL is THAT?!) self that everyone loved/loves me.

oh, but i think i have really good friends... :D

... should not ... settling for second best merely for the sake of getting hitched - only to regret it soon after...
sad fact 6: I agree.. so forver, therez always going to be someone better... DIE LA, Like that HOW? no need to settle... ;P

Hopefully, the best is not over but yet to be.

Grandmother's stories..

My uncle sent this to me...

in the email, he said:
All grandmother story have a moral.

All uncle fei's story, you have to seach hard
for the moral, but it's there somewhere.

"Everything's got a moral,
if only you can find it."
---Alice in Wonderland

Alright.

I like this one...

Grandmother story II - The one you feed

Old grandmother
told his grandson
about a fight
A fight is going on
inside me
he said to the boy.
It is a terrible fight
and it is between
two wolves

One is evil
He is anger
envy
sorrow
regret
greed
arrogance
self-pity
guilt
resentment
inferiority
lies
false pride
superiority
and ego.

The other is good
He is joy
peace
love
hope
serenity
humility
kindness
benevolence
empathy
generosity
truth
compassion
and faith

This same fight
is going on inside you
and inside
every other person too

The grandson
thought about it
for a minute
and then asked
his grandmother
which wolf would win

Old grandmother
simply replied
"The one you feed."
